Brian T. Stanley - VP

Job Titles:
  • Principal
  • Vice President
  • Education
Education: B.S.C.E., University of Maryland, 1998 M.Eng., University of Maryland, 2003 I love seeing a theoretical design become reality. I feel a true sense of accomplishment not only because of the experience we bring to that process, but also because of the care, collaboration and proactive problem-solving that we, as a team, bring every time. There's nothing I enjoy more than driving through Richmond, seeing our past and current projects and thinking about what our team and our clients have achieved together. Brian began working at Dunbar in 2012, and today his passion for structural engineering, and especially for doing what's right for each client, is as strong as ever. With a preference for large and complex projects that will have a significant influence, he enjoys collaborating and building relationships with architects and other consultants that result in a high-performing team. In fact, Brian has a reputation for building cohesive teams and ensuring open and effective communication. His favorite project to date is the Children's Hospital of Richmond Pavilion at VCU where he had the opportunity to design giant columns, robust shear walls and massive steel-braced frames. Outside of work, Brian enjoys playing indoor soccer and hiking and/or camping in the woods to take a break from technology. Brian has three awesome kids, an even more awesome wife and one high-maintenance dog.

Casey W. Horn

Job Titles:
  • Partner
  • Senior Associate
  • Senior Engineer
Casey has been with Dunbar since 2011 and has quickly become recognized as a hard worker and a dedicated employee. He chose a career in engineering because numbers are fun and he finds it challenging and rewarding. He especially likes working on multi-story, steel-framed buildings. When he can find free time, he is a bedroom rock star: he plays guitar and spins records that he collects. He likes many genres of music, but especially 1990's and 2000's alternative rock. He also enjoys attending live music events and fishing, but often has to work on house projects and chase his toddler around the house. Casey has a wry sense of humor and is known as the guy with the "Christmas Story" leg lamp on his desk. He likes watching dumb comedy movies from the 1990's and eating carrot cake - not necessarily at the same time. He is happily married with a rambunctious son and a stereotypically sweet daughter.

They have two children and three grandchildren who all live nearby. Dennis took advantage of his wife's work as a travel agent, and has travelled to some exciting places in the U.S. Dennis enjoys playing guitar for his church and is a guitarist/singer in The Middle Fork Band, which plays at nearby wineries. Eddie's way of getting away from it all is sailing in the Atlantic Ocean or the Chesapeake Bay. He enjoys the challenge of using the wind to get where he wants to go. He claims it's not as relaxing as people think, but the focus required means he's not caught up in all the other pressures of daily life. During the 2017 solar eclipse, he brought his sextant to share with the staff. Eddie plays guitar and likes any music simple enough that he can play it himself, like John Prine, Jimmy Buffett and James Taylor. He has two children who also studied engineering. When he has time to read, he chooses non-fiction, mostly historical books.

As an engineer, he likes all types of projects, but especially enjoys the larger ones that give him time to think about solutions and be creative. He feels his greatest strength is his ability to get along with people. Marcin has an interesting past. Marcin met his wife in Poland while he was still in high school. She had emigrated from Poland to Canada as a child and was on her first trip to Poland. They survived a seven-year long-distance relationship and reunited when he graduated from university. He greatly admires his parents for the economic and political difficulties they endured in Poland, while still providing for their two sons. His free time is spent with his wife and three sons, and working on his cars and projects around the house. He loves to travel and would do more if he had the time. He would like to visit each continent and learn about other cultures and cuisines. Ryan S. Pletz

Job Titles:
  • Partner
  • Senior Associate
  • Senior Engineer
  • Education
Education: B.A.E., Pennsylvania State University, 2008 Ryan spent a lot of time as a child trying to figure out "how things work." This meant taking a lot of household objects apart. Fortunately for his family, he usually put them back together. He has vivid memories of teachers in early school years challenging him to ask "Why?" and "How?" which inspired him to learn more about the world around him. Seemingly destined for the engineering field, he graduated with a 5-year Bachelor of Architectural Engineering degree from Penn State, specializing in Structural Systems. The program involved coursework not only in structural engineering, but MEP engineering and architecture as well. This served him well in his job at a full-service A/E firm before joining Dunbar in 2012. He enjoys the challenge that each project brings as well as the coordination with multi-discipline teams that is required for building development. It is especially satisfying for him to be in a field that allows him to see physical representations of his work reflected in the built environment. In spare time, Ryan enjoys the outdoors and physical activities, like hiking, mountain and road biking, running, swimming and skiing.
