EMPTY HANDS

Empty Hands, a family musical, tells the inspiring story of Dakota Ramos, a high school senior, kicked out of school for fighting too much, so he's transferred to a new high school. First day, he gets into a fight. His father, a sports writer, wants him to be a football hero, as he once was, but Dakota doesn't want to. He quits the football team which angers his father, still dealing with his wife leaving them four years ago. Dakota learns there's a physical education class that teaches Taekwondo, a form of martial arts designed to help kids learn how to handle bullies in their lives. Skeptical at first, he's moved by Kira Lee, a fellow student, to take the class. Facing ongoing battles with the student with whom he first fought at his new school, he winds up playing a larger role at his new school than he first anticipates, thanks to Kira and the Sensei, who is a veteran.
