FERRO - Key Persons
Kevin Ferro is the founder of Ferro Holdings LLC, a family-owned holding company formed in 2019 and based in Florida.
Mr. Ferro's experience spans domestic and international markets, with expertise in alternative investments and healthcare. Mr. Ferro built and managed Vatera Holdings LLC, an investment advisor with a range of capabilities across traditional and alternative asset classes, for which he served as Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer from 2006 until its sale in 2018. Prior to Vatera, Mr. Ferro founded and served as the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer of Ferro Capital LLC, an alternative investments firm with offices in New York and Frankfurt that managed portfolios for clients in the U.S. and Europe. Mr. Ferro's experience also includes posts as Global Head of Alternative Investment Strategies for Commerzbank, where he managed alternative investment portfolios for the bank and its clients, and as Vice President at the D. E. Shaw Group working out of New York City, London and Tokyo.
Throughout his 25-year career, Mr. Ferro has served on numerous boards of public and private companies. He was previously chairman of the board of directors of Pearl Therapeutics, a clinical stage company focused on the development of therapies for chronic respiratory diseases, until its sale to AstraZeneca for up to $1.2 billion, and served as a member of the board of directors of Kos Pharmaceuticals, a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on the treatment of chronic cardiovascular, metabolic and respiratory diseases, until its sale to Abbott Labs for $4.2 billion. In 2021, Mr. Ferro joined the board of directors of Greenhill & Co., Inc. (NYSE: GHL), a leading independent investment bank.
In addition to his business pursuits, Mr. Ferro is actively involved in philanthropic causes in support of education, medical research, health, and the environment. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees of Prep for Prep, a leadership development program offering promising students of color from modest backgrounds access to private school education. Mr. Ferro is also a member of the Board of Trustees of Pine Crest School in Fort Lauderdale.
Raised in Woodstock, Vermont, Mr. Ferro and his wife, Cara, and two children live in South Florida. Mr. Ferro holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government from Harvard University.
