As well as sharing research infrastructure, IOMRC partners are conducting research collaboratively, leveraging the complementary expertise and resources to deliver a deeper understanding of the marine environment of Western Australia... The IOMRC is a leading marine science partnership in the southern hemisphere with the largest marine research capability on the Indian Ocean rim. It brings together four of Australia's leading research organisations working in and around the Indian Ocean: the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS), the Commonwealth Science and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), the WA Department of Primary Industries (DPIRD) and The University of Western Australia (UWA)... The IOMRC partnership was established in 2010 with support from the Department of Education and Training. With the vision to drive global knowledge of the Indian Ocean marine environment and its sustainable management, the partner organisations moved into new facilities on UWA's Perth..
