JUNIPERCA

JuniperCA deals with the optimization of forest management in one of the biodiversity hotspots worldwide, the Pamiro-Alay-System. Spatially, the project focusses on juniper stands in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. We conduct a juniper yield analysis, inventor sample sites and map the local juniper distribution based on remote sensing data. Socio-ecological research leads to a comprehensive understanding of existing juniper uses in space and time. A spatially explicit simulation model of the current juniper use and of possible future uses integrates the different parts of the project and allows for optimization within the forest management system...
