He is known for designing innovative, state-of-the-art, and cost-effective systems, most notably for the many complex requirements of healthcare and higher-ed facilities. He is also a former Associate Professor at NYU's Department of Building Technology.

Cheryl McKissack-Daniel has more than 30 years of experience in all phases of the construction industry, including major project work in the commercial, healthcare, education and transportation sectors. Born in Nashville to architect William DeBerry and teacher, Leatrice McKissack, Cheryl represents the fifth generation of the McKissack family's century-old business McKissack & McKissack, the oldest minority and woman-owned professional design and construction services firm in the nation.
As Principal at Legacy, Cheryl brings a strong business acumen, which is invaluable in responding to our client's needs. She provides executive leadership for project implementation and ensures that professionalism is implemented during each phase of a project or program. Her skills include expertise in the development and implementation quality assurance and control programs.
Cheryl serves on numerous, corporate, charitable and community boards. As a board member, Cheryl focuses on strategic planning as part of good governance. She believes strategic planning is a critical part to a board's mission and formulating good strategy ensures long-term value creation, building an ethical culture and managing risk.
Cheryl has been honored as a "Hero of Liberty" for her support of humanitarian initiatives and for promoting the responsibilities of a free and diverse America. She earned both a bachelor and master's degree in civil engineering from Howard University and graduate course work Columbia University in Civil Engineering.
Francisco's experience encompasses a wide variety of building typologies and complex systems. His knowledge includes benchmarking, energy auditing, retro-commissioning, measurement and verification, decarbonization roadmaps, electrification strategies, and development of climate action plans. As a project manager, Francisco has led numerous successful energy projects of various sizes and complexity across the Northeast. His involvement with current and leading-edge energy solutions translates into his approach in each project.

John is President & a Principal at LEGACY. In his 35 years of experience in the industry, he has worked on some of the most prestigious and complex projects in the consulting engineering field. Before founding LEGACY, John spent the last 26 years as a partner at an international mechanical and electrical consulting engineering firm where he led projects across all market sectors including higher education, multi-family residential, cultural and commercial projects.
Mr. Rice is recognized for his vast experience in designing heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems for high performance buildings and is sought by clients for his innovative thinking, his exceptional leadership skills, his passion for engineeringand his application of both modern and traditional engineering technologies to achieve the owner's goals. He has lead projects that incorporate sustainable features, including energy master-planning, cogeneration, micro-grids, energy recovery, geothermal heat pump systems, radiant floor heating and cooling and renewable energy.
His major projects include: the 350,000 sf New Academic Building for American University of Central Asia in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan; the 2M sf mixed-use developments Flushing Commons, in Flushing, New York; and the 410,000 sf mixed-use Kalahari Condominiums in Harlem, New York.
Mr. Rice received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from New York Institute of Technology. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Urban Green Council, New York City's green building design advocacy group; and he is a Past President of the New York Chapter of ASHRAE.
