Martin F. Powell rejoined Meyer, Blohm and Powell, P.A. as a partner in 2022 after five years away at the Florida Education Association, where he gathered the experience and expertise necessary to bring full-service representation skills to the firm and to his clients. Martin is dedicated to being a client-centered advocate, who strives to keep his client's experience at the forefront of any successful legal strategy.
Martin brings this commitment to representing clients in a wide variety of areas, including professional license disputes, wrongful termination, disciplinary actions, and discrimination disputes. He also focuses on labor and employment law for both private and public sector labor unions, including handling arbitrations, collective bargaining negotiations, strategic campaigns, NLRB and PERC litigation, and administrative hearings.
Prior to rejoining Meyer, Blohm and Powell, Martin served as the Chief of Staff and General Counsel of the Florida Education Association (FEA), the largest labor union in the Southeast. He was responsible for guiding the legal strategy of FEA, FEA members and affiliated local unions, advising FEA local affiliate unions, launching and coordinating statewide strategic initiatives, and negotiating the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the FEA staff union. Martin also served as an associate at Meyer, Brooks, Demma and Blohm, P.A., representing hundreds of clients in various employment disputes, and as a felony prosecutor for the Second Judicial Circuit, conducting many high-stakes bench and jury trials.
