People are often ambivalent when seeking help from a professional - it's not an easy thing to do to speak with a stranger about what troubles you. In my decades of experience as a clinical psychologist, I have found people often suffered for long periods of time - too long - before seeking help. The first thing I can offer is realistic hope - hope that things can get better, that you can feel understood, and that life can feel worthwhile again. I offer help and hope for the practical problems of life as well as the more intangible, yet equally vital issues related to a sense of peace, joy and contentment with one's life.
