Stu is originally from the state of New Hampshire, where he grew up and spent most of his life. He and his wife Joni moved to the Central Valley of California in 2004. He worked as a software/technology consultant to large companies in New England for many years, then In 2008, he formed External Resources, Inc in order to increase his reach beyond operating as a consultant. In addition to his work at External Resources, Stu has been an active contributor to other technology startups. Due to his long-standing friendship with two of Transworld of Tri-Valley's co-founders, he jumped at the opportunity early on to make a difference with families of small businesses by becoming a partner at Transworld, a Central Valley-based M&A firm. Beyond his professional pursuits, he believes in giving back to his community in many ways, having worked with a number of local non-profits including being on his church board and helping with many local election campaigns. As a result of his strong interest in Economic Development and love for the community, Stu was elected and served five years on the Modesto Irrigation Board of Directors. MID is a publicly-owned company that provides retail electricity to approximately 129,000 customers and over 3,000 irrigation accounts. This role was amongst the most significant of his long career, as he has the opportunity to not only serve his community, but also he has found himself having some responsibilities with being a steward over our precious water resources here in California. With such a wide range of interests and an enthusiasm for the future, Stu brings a fresh perspective to all that he does, and a natural leadership style that is both contagious and inspiring. He partners with clients to help them sell or buy businesses, mostly due to a desire to transition from business ownership to retirement or to carve out a piece of the American Dream through business ownership. Stu believes strongly in balancing business success with his personal life. He is first and foremost a "Jesus Guy", and he and his wife Joni have been married for over 29 years. Along with being an active father of five amazing adults, he is blessed to be a grandfather to six wonderful grandkids.
