Don't let Eric's age fool you. At only 14 years old, Eric is a paddling dynamo and entrepreneur. Eric has grown up a deeply immersed in the paddling community. Eric was paddling in utero within days of his birth in 2007. Eric is the oldest of three born to Dan and Vicky Plath who helped found the NW Indiana Paddling Association, a non-profit paddling club based out of NW Indiana focused on paddling, education, and stewardship. Eric has been paddling avidly since he could barely sit upright in a canoe or kayak. By the time Eric was three, he was paddling his own kayak, an Old Town Heron Jr. by himself. Eric and his siblings, Katie and Matthew, have paddled thousands of miles over the years, many in National Park units and other protected lands throughout the country. Eric has helped is father as a co-instructor teach American Canoe Association canoe and kayak classes for the past six years.
