Raman spectral features are generated by molecular vibrations in the sample, which makes Raman spectroscopy a convenient tool for characterizing biological systems. Due to the low-cost, label-free, and non-destructive features, Raman spectroscopy has been widely studied in terms of the identification of bacterial pathogens. Through advanced statistical methods, fast and reliable identification of bacterial pathogens could be achieved because Raman spectral pattern uniquely reflects the composition and structure of different bacteria. However, in order to apply a variety of machine learning algorithms on these Raman spectra, standardized Raman spectral database for pathogenic bacteria is a very important basis.
