Despite efforts to make water safety a priority, a recent report from the U.S. Consumer Protection Agency notes that fatal child drownings and nonfatal drowning injuries in children under age 15 remain high. In fact, drowning is the number one cause of death in children aged one through four and the number two cause of death in children from age one to age fourteen. Such statistics can be greatly reduced by ensuring that all in the family, even the very youngest, receive vital training in developing swimming skills.
