Chad Taylor

An experienced litigator, Chad Taylor has handled cases which run the gamut - ranging from ten-thousand-dollar car wreck cases to a thirty-five million dollar landslide matter. He has assisted plaintiffs in recovering multi-million-dollar settlements and obtained defense verdicts and summary judgment dismissals for defendants. Regardless of the value of the case, each matter is important to the client, and is therefore important to Chad. As a general litigator at Simmerman Law Office since 2007, Chad has had the unique opportunity to represent plaintiffs and defendants in diverse areas of the law including: personal injury, product liability, nursing home neglect, oil and gas industry contractual matters, wrongful termination/discrimination, construction defect, engineering professional liability, wrongful death, medical malpractice, breach of contract, and general commercial litigation. Chad has tried cases in magistrate court (civil), circuit court (civil and criminal), and federal court (civil), and is an experienced appellate advocate, having argued multiple issues before the West Virginia Supreme Court, argued before the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, and drafted a brief submitted to the United States Supreme Court. Frank E. "Trey" Simmerman, III

Frank E. "Trey" Simmerman, III graduated as the salutatorian from Notre Dame High School in 2004 and from the College of Wooster, located in Wooster, Ohio, in 2008. Trey obtained his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the West Virginia University College of Law in 2011. Additionally, Trey holds a specialized degree in insurance and risk management, a Masters of Science in Risk Management and Insurance (MS-RMI) degree from Florida State University - which is an area of substantial practice for Trey. In addition to being admitted to practice before the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals, Trey is admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia. While at the College of Wooster, Trey was a three-year letter winner for the Wooster Fighting Scots Football Team. Additionally, Trey was a member of a select group of Wooster student-athletes who volunteered at Every Woman's House (a shelter providing comprehensive services to the victims of domestic violence). In law school, Trey was awarded the CALI award in Constitutional Law and served as a legal research assistant for Westlaw/Thomson Reuters at the College of Law. Further, Trey had the privilege of clerking for the Honorable Irene M. Keeley in the Northern District of West Virginia. Frank Simmerman's employment history runs from UMWA coal miner in McDowell County, West Virginia, to bank examiner, to attorney. It is that foundation which grounds his advocacy in the "common sense" of real world experience, to which jurors and clients relate. Mr. Simmerman has over 40 years of experience as a trial lawyer. His diverse background ranges from trying plaintiffs' medical malpractice cases, to serving as co-liaison counsel for all defendants throughout the final three years of pretrial proceedings, and opening and closing what is believed to be one of the longest and largest civil trials in West Virginia-a six-month trial in the Circuit Court of Monongalia County that is cited under In re State Public Bldg., Asbestos Litigation, 454 S.E.2d 413, 193 W. Va. 119 (1994); cert. denied 115 S.Ct. 2614, 515 U. S. 1160, 132 L. Ed. 2d 857. Mr. Simmerman has tried over 100 jury and non-jury cases in state and federal courts-representing both plaintiffs and defendants. He has also appeared before the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals on multiple occasions. Three of Mr. Simmerman's cases have advanced to the level of the United States Supreme Court, which illustrates the breadth of his practice. Mr. Simmerman was selected for the initial class of West Virginia's Super Lawyers. He is also AV® Peer Review RatedSM by Martindale-Hubbell®. Although not his largest settlement, Mr. Simmerman's largest public settlement is the recovery of $2,250,000 on behalf of the family of a woman who died as a result of a failure to timely diagnose and treat a horrible infectious process. It is worth noting that this case had been reviewed and rejected by other lawyers.

Stacey Fox

Stacey joined Simmerman Law Office in January of 2013. Stacey graduated from West Virginia University with a B.A. in Political Science in 2004, and then received her Associate's Degree in Paralegal Studies from West Virginia Business College in 2006, graduating with a 4.0. Prior to her employment at Simmerman Law, Stacey worked in both Pennsylvania and West Virginia, and has experience working in offices specializing in family law, bankruptcy, and civil litigation.
