Make sure the advisor will act as a fiduciary - An advisor who is a fiduciary has to act in YOUR best interest and disclose any conflicts of interest in their recommendation. An advisor who is not a fiduciary only has to consider what is suitable for you, but may not be in your best interest. They are also held to a lower standard of care.
