SOCIETAL METAMORPHOSIS

We have a lot of work to do growing into this our societal adolescence, but we've begun. It may be hard to imagine, but if the analogy is a guide, we'll learn how to live peaceably with each other as individuals, tribes and nations, simply because cooperation is a better more efficient way to live. It may take us a while, perhaps centuries, to settle into such cooperation, but many animal societies from bacterial through insect to mammalian have stumbled upon and adopted cooperative structures and once evolved such structures can become stable. Once the developmental tasks of adolescence have been achieved, humanity's purpose on earth will pivot again, from a relational axis to a spiritual access. The practical aspects of life will have been provided for and relational institutionalized evolved into their mature forms, and we will of necessity seek purpose elsewhere. But our collective task in the information age is to live into the job of adolescence, to take on the responsibilities..
