SuretyU was brought to life by Sharon Rusconi after a successful 40 year career in surety as an underwriter and broker/owner/manager. Sharon, while pursuing her MBA at the start of her surety career in 1987, wrote her Master's Project on "The Need for Surety Education in the Insurance Industry". After surveying many industries and brokers, and researching what was available at that time, she concluded there was very little training available in surety - training that brokers, and others, wanted! More than 32 years later she recognized the need remained virtually unmet without the considerable expense of either joining a surety related association, traveling to attend pricey courses in person, or having to maintain certain key surety market appointments.
