With a permaculture garden, we design our gardens so that they mimic nature. We have trees, shrubs, grasses and herbs. These are grown in a variety of ways, including natural methods, but also include raised beds, greenhouses and containers. We don't just use these plants as decorative accents, but we also use them for their benefits to us and our environment... The regenerative approach means we work to help nature heal itself. In a natural environment, plants grow and die over time, but when they decompose they return nutrients back to the soil, creating a cycle that keeps the land healthy. We can help nature heal itself by using mulches and other techniques to help prevent soil erosion. This also helps the soil to retain moisture, which can be beneficial for the plants. We can also make use of compost and manure to feed our plants. We can even encourage the growth of worms and other insects that help the soil...
