Peter began his career as an engineering apprentice at the age of 16, was a manager by the age of 25 and entered senior management leading a team of over 500 people by his late 30's. He took early retirement at age 49 and then began a new career spanning several years during which he travelled extensively providing consultancy services to large international companies. He held a number of interim positions at Director Level and carried out several Project Management tasks also at a senior level. He travelled extensively working in Europe, Central America and the Far East as well as the UK during this time. Whilst in Sumatra, Peter set up and ran his own company of 5 people trading Palm Oil products and was a visiting lecturer with the Professional Management College of Indonesia before returning to the UK. In 2005 Peter began a new career helping small and medium sized businesses to grow, providing coaching to business owners and also helped them with leadership and management skills. He worked with Nottingham Business Venture, the Princes Trust, and was also contracted by the Leicester Chamber to help businesses in the Chamber's High Growth Programme. He provided support and advice to over 30 companies from start up to mature. Peter also provided mentoring for Entrepreneurship and Business students at Nottingham University during 2006 and 2007. In January 2008 Peter moved from Derbyshire to Berkshire with his wife Anne to be closer to their three adult sons and a newly-arrived grandson. After a period of working to make his newly-acquired bungalow habitable, he began once again working with small and medium sized businesses. He is an Associate Partner with FPSS providing Business Planning and Accountancy services. He is also a Global Solutions Partner with QuickstartGlobal helping businesses set and operate worldwide. Peter is Managing Director of OpConsult Limited and joint Managing Director of The Better Business Alliance. He is a Chartered Engineer, a member of the Institution of Engineering Technology, a member of the Institute of Business Consultants and an Associate of the Institute of Independent Business. Peter is an active member of the Thames Valley Chamber and serves on the Bracknell Chamber Committee.
