Gary W. Kisling

Job Titles:
  • Attorney
  • of Counsel
Gary W. Kisling was born and raised in the countryside of southeastern Iowa. At an early age, he developed a strong sense of justice and anger toward injustice. Gary has now practiced law for over 37 years and is a founding partner of Kisling, Nestico & Redick. His broad legal experience and years of practice give him perspective and insight into helping people. While in law school, Gary worked for one year as a judicial legal assistant in the Akron Municipal Court, then two years as a judicial legal assistant in the Summit County Court of Common Pleas. It was in the Court of Common Pleas that Gary says he received his real legal education. In addition to legal research, writing memorandums, and draft opinions, Gary's judge requested his presence during jury trials to assist with complex evidentiary issues. This gave Gary the opportunity to watch good and bad lawyers try cases and observe jurors' reactions. Gary went into private practice immediately following law school and tried his first jury trial in his second week of practice. He has since tried dozens of jury trials to verdict as lead counsel, and settled multi-million dollar cases. In addition to trying complicated and serious injury cases, he counts a jury verdict of nearly one million dollars in a soft tissue injury case as one of his most satisfying experiences. Gary has also won cases in the Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of Ohio dealing with various issues including the unconstitutionality of the Ohio Workers' Compensation subrogation statute, defeating sovereign immunity for a county-owned nursing home, lack of customer's prior notice of a defective condition despite previous use in premises liability cases, the admissibility of an expert witness's testimony based partially upon hearsay, and the limitation of the former doctrine of parental immunity in personal injury cases. In addition to his law school education and other continuing legal education courses, Gary is a graduate of the University of Virginia's Institute of Trial Advocacy in Charlottesville, Virginia, and Gerry Spence's Trial Lawyers College at Thunderhead Ranch, Dubois, Wyoming. He has given presentations on personal injury trial practice and cross-examination of expert witnesses to other lawyers.

John J. Reagan - CEO

Job Titles:
  • Attorney
  • Managing Partner
John J. Reagan's legal experience began after college when he worked full-time as a Senior Claims Adjuster for a national insurance company. At the same time, John attended evening law school and graduated from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 1996. After passing the Ohio Bar exam later that year, John began his law practice defending national insurance companies, product manufacturers, and trucking companies against personal injury, product liability, and wrongful death claims. Just prior to joining the Kisling, Nestico & Redick team, John was a shareholder at one of Ohio's largest regional defense firms, Reminger Co., LPA, where he spent more than a decade. During that time, John took dozens of cases to jury verdict as lead trial counsel. John's trial experience included defending consumer claims against product manufacturers, as well as defending catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death claims arising from defective products, auto accidents, and truck collisions. John also presented seminars to local and regional legal groups on claims handling and trial practices. While John was still defending insurance companies, a colleague approached and asked him to serve as lead trial counsel on behalf of a client who was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident, through no fault of the client. The client's own insurance company denied full payment of the claim and disputed the extent of the injuries. As a result, the client and his wife experienced significant personal and economic hardship. John agreed to handle the case, took it to trial, and obtained a six-figure jury verdict for the clients - well in excess of the insurance policy limits. John and the client subsequently proceeded against the same insurance company in a separate lawsuit, seeking additional damages for the insurance company's failure to properly evaluate, negotiate, and handle the client's claim. John obtained a substantial additional settlement award in favor of his client for the bad faith committed by the insurance company in the handling of their own policyholder's claim. In representing that client, John recognized a new satisfaction in his practice, having helped an individual and his wife obtain a just recovery. Shortly thereafter, John began to expand his practice in an effort to assist individuals whenever possible. John's subsequent successes include obtaining significant six-figure bad faith damages for the family of a woman tragically killed in an auto accident and denied uninsured/underinsured motorist benefits by her auto insurance carrier. John joined KNR in 2010, and devotes his practice exclusively to the litigation of personal injury, wrongful death, personal and commercial insurance coverage, bad faith, and class-action claims. He finds new personal reward in his practice now - helping consumers, friends, and neighbors who unfortunately need experienced legal representation following unforeseen accidents. Many of John's cases are the result of referrals from other attorneys. John's unique knowledge, perspective, and experience, like that of all members of the KNR team of attorneys, ensure the best possible results for the firm's clients. John is married and lives with his wife and three children in Broadview Heights, Ohio. He and his family are active parishioners at St. Basil the Great Parish in Brecksville, and enjoy volunteering in local community and parish activities.
