If you are coming to the Birmingham Breast Group to be treated, you will meet Daniel, read more about him here: Dr Daniel Henderson trained in Clinical Oncology at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London, which included research into advanced radiotherapy. During his time at the Royal Marsden Daniel undertook a two-year fellowship in Cyberknife radiotherapy, becoming only the second person ever to hold this prestigious fellowship. Daniel's medical career showed early promise from the start. He won two undergraduate prizes the David Bulmer Memorial Prize for the best student performance in anatomy and The Sandy Powell Memorial Prize for his essay on Immediate Care/Accident and Emergency, before going on to attain a Distinction in his final examinations. Much more recently, Daniel was awarded the Best in Clinical Care Award at The University Hospital's NHS Foundation Trust's Building Healthier Lives Awards, which recognising his commitment, ingenuity and determination. Daniel has published multiple peer reviewed research papers, and been an invited speaker at national and international conferences. In 2017, Daniel was appointed as a Consultant in Clinical Oncology at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Edgbaston, which has one of the largest advanced radiotherapy and chemotherapy units in the UK, and Good Hope Hospital in Sutton Coldfield, where he cares for patients with Breast cancer. Daniel is a member of the Expert Advisory Group for both Breast Cancer in the West Midlands, and also sits on the Scientific Advisory Committee for clinical trials at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Daniel describes Oncology as a ‘fascinating and dynamic speciality with new treatments emerging regularly'. His special interests are in radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and targeted therapy and, in particular, developing personalised treatment plans for patients to achieve the best possible outcomes.
