Deanna Childress

Job Titles:
  • Director of Data Analytics and Research
Deanna Childress has a PhD in Sociology from the University of Notre Dame, with a focus on inequality of educational opportunity. Her doctoral research examines the job search process for people with criminal records. Other important work identifies early childhood predictors of academic engagement and high school completion. Dr. Childress was a first-generation college student and is passionate about supporting historically disadvantaged students and working toward educational equity.

Dr. Joyce Roberts

  • Principal and Central Office Administrator
Dr. Joyce Roberts' lived experience as a teacher, principal and central office administrator brings a unique historical perspective and an in-depth experience from every level of SLPS to the Board of Education. Dr. Roberts has a track record of excellence and a demonstrated willingness to build relationships among all stakeholders. She possesses certifications in early childhood, reading, parent-educator, principalship and superintendency. As the principal of Pierre Laclede Elementary, Joyce was recognized as a Gold Star (state) and Blue Ribbon (federal) awardee for consistent student academic achievement. Dr. Roberts is committed to student academic achievement, accountability, equity, transparency, community engagement and a seamless school district.

Dr. Kelvin R. Adams

  • Superintendent of Schools for the Saint Louis Public School District
  • Superintendent, St. Louis Public Schools
Dr. Kelvin R. Adams began his duties as Superintendent of Schools for the Saint Louis Public School District in 2008. As Superintendent, Dr. Adams is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Saint Louis Public School District and a $390 million budget. During his time with the District, Dr. Adams has focused his attention on improving student achievement. Dr. Adams received his Ph.D. in Educational Leadership in Administration from the University of New Orleans in 2005. He earned a M.A. in Elementary Education from Xavier University in 1991 and a B.A. in Elementary Education and Special Education from Northeast Louisiana University in 1978.

Dr. Paula Boddie

  • Principal, Ashland Elementary School
I have held roles within St. Louis Public Schools from Technology Specialist, Special Education Teacher, Instructional Coach and Principal. It has been the opportunity to impact the lives of future generations that has engaged me in the process of being a Life-Long Learner. I am very excited about the possibilities for growth and development in these uncertain times, like A Tale of Two Cities the power of choice is in our collective hands.

Jay Hartman

Job Titles:
  • Executive Director
Jay holds a Masters in Education Leadership from SLU and brings over ten years of combined experience as a teacher and school leader to his role with the CPN. He believes that empowered teachers and families are the agents of change.

Jonathan Strong

Job Titles:
  • Principal, Meramec Elementary School
Jonathan Strong is an educator who works with elementary school aged children, helping build strong foundations for their futures. It is his passion for educating children that has led him to the St. Louis Public School District, to serve as the Meramec Elementary School principal.

Nikki DeLeo

Job Titles:
  • Director of Curriculum & Instruction
Nikki DeLeo is a passionate educator committed to pursuing equity and opportunity in all communities through leadership, dedication, and advocacy. She has over ten years of experience educating students in St. Louis.

Prof. Priscilla Dowden-White

Job Titles:
  • Associate Professor of History at the University of Missouri
  • President, Aldermanic Appointee
Prof. Dowden-White is Associate Professor of History at the University of Missouri, where she teaches courses on African American history, United States history since 1865, and the history of St. Louis. She is also involved in global and local mission through the African Methodist Episcopal Church. A native St. Louisan, Dowden-White was educated in the St. Louis public schools. Prof. Dowden-White is a proud resident of the City of St. Louis where she resides with her husband and their dog ‘Spunky'.

Vivan Carbin

  • Representative to the CPN Board
Vivan Carbin is the parent representative to the CPN Board. She draws on her experience as a resident and parent of SLPS to advocate for children and families within the CPN network. She is committed to ensuring an excellent education for all children in St. Louis.
