In 1854 in Petersburg, WV, Dr. Thomas Jefferson Grove, MD of Grant County built his main residence on the current day corner of Grove St. and Virginia Avenue. Adjacent to the main house, Dr. Grove erected a small cottage to be used as his doctor's office and the upstairs for his caretaker's quarters. In 2017, Dr. Cheryl Bennett, OD purchased the 1-acre lot and the main house became The Spectacle Family EyeCare. She fell in love with the little cottage beside the office and could see it was a place that needed lots of love and new life. After four years of planning, The Grove Cafe & Bakery is set to open in October of 2021. The unique building that was once a physical healing place for its patients will become a place where friends and community can gather for laughter, good coffee and sweet treats!
