Alex Ternes

Alex has been providing IT Support for Hallett Movers for 24 years. He has been an IT professional for nearly 40 years with experience in programming, infrastructure management and data center operations. Alex works closely with the entire team to understand business requirements and determine the best technical solutions. He holds a B.S., Computer Science from Northern Illinois University.

Beth Bergh

Beth joined Hallett Movers in 2012 as an Office Assistant and now manages our accounts payable, accounts receivable, and collections department. She brings more than 40 years of professional experience and customer service to her work, enabling her to create smooth transactions for Hallett's clients nationwide. Internally, she helps to care for our team by managing special projects such as coordinating HR 401K benefits, maintaining client contact data, coordinating bid proposals for commercial and library projects, and managing Certificate of Insurances for our client's moves. Beth earned her master's degree in Organizational Leadership from Olivet Nazarene University.

Dawn Hallett - President

Dawn leads Hallett Movers, carrying on her family's legacy here in Chicago and expanding our relocation services nationwide and overseas. She is dedicated to providing exceptional service to our clients both near and far. Dawn has hands-on experience in each of Hallett's divisions and now specializes in large, complex commercial relocations and the integration of file and library collections. Technology-minded, she creates efficient solutions using computer applications that save our clients time and money. She invests in the wellbeing of the Hallett team, cultivating and retaining experienced staff. She is also a member of the Chicago Chapter of International Facilities Management, where she served as Association President (2003-2005), and she serves on Southwest Regional Advisory Board for Catholic Charities. She holds a B.S., Business Administration from Illinois State University. Dawn joined the company full time in 1988, and she took on the responsibilities of President in 2011.

Debby Gosset

Debby works closely with all of the Hallett office staff to make sure all runs smoothly in the accounting department, including managing our payroll, year-end and ACA reports, and OSHA reporting requirements. Debby has worked with Hallett in our accounting department for more than 21 years. She has taken the opportunity to join the move teams on site to learn firsthand each aspect of a moving job, including tagging library shelves and packing books. She holds a B.A. in Finance and a Minor in Accounting from the College of St. Francis at Joliet.

George Torres

George joined Hallett in 2013 with nearly two decades of diverse move industry experience in the Chicagoland area, making him an insightful lead for our largest jobs. He started his career by loading household goods on trailers, quickly becoming a driver then supervisor then shifting over to dispatch work. He has been a Project Manager in the field on large commercial moves. George has a robust history of teaching crews how to move safely and to maintain inventory compliance, and teaching drivers how to load correctly to avoid damage and to drive safely. We have him in charge of all of our equipment and safety issues. He also assists our dispatcher with overall scheduling.

Issac Emeric

Issac brings high energy and enthusiasm to every project he joins. With 15 years of service on Hallett's team, he has a strong work ethic that makes him a leader in library and commercial moving.

James Hasty

Jim has been with Hallett Movers for 31 years, and his experience on thousands of commercial, industrial, academic and library moves is reflected in his approach to every project. He is a master at on-the-fly relocation engineering, and he can always figure out the safest, most efficient way to move the most difficult objects in the most unforgiving spaces. He is a reliable trainer for other team members. Jimmy is top on our seniority list as a driver and mover and tops in our clients' books as a knowledgeable and trusted Hallett staff member.

Mary initiates and builds relationships with customers who could most benefit from Hallett's expert services, conducting outreach and sharing tailored materials and answering questions for our new clients. Her passion for libraries keeps her searching for all types of moves of library and historical collections throughout the world. She is eager to help libraries understand how we can help to make their move seamless and that they can hire us on early as consultants to help them strategize their transition and to provide collection layout options. She brings nearly two decades of customer service experience to the work along with keen attention to detail and an inspiring adaptability to emerging technologies. Mary has worked with us since 2015. She holds a degree in English.

Melvin Gallegos

Melvin has been working in the moving industry since his first week out of High School, and focused on learning from co-workers, many who had been in the industry for more than 30 years. Protecting and taking care of customers' valuables is top priority. Melvin worked as a mover for 10 years, gaining plenty of experience, becoming a working foreman, running crews as big as 30 staff, and managing large, multi-phase projects. In 2018, he joined Hallett Movers to be our full- time dispatcher. He schedules our teams and oversees crews, trucks, jobs, and auditing paperwork daily. He also supervises the warehouse and makes sure all equipment is taken into account.

Truman joined Hallett Movers 25 years ago. His experience in all types of moves allows him to bring expert skills to the most delicate of tasks, notably the packing and moving of rare objects and valuable art. Truman focuses his patience and attention to detail on such specialized projects.

Valarie Brocato

Valarie leads Hallett's Library Services division, bringing more than 15 years of library services experience and graduate level training in rare books care and preservation. She is a seasoned project manager and skilled trainer, working closely with library staff to understand their needs to run complex interfiling and relocation projects. Valarie draws on not only her hundreds of moves with Hallett but also her work as Exhibition and Preservation Manager in special collections at the University of Chicago, where she planned, prepared, and directed 2 major collection moves. She holds a B.A. in Fine Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and joined Hallett Movers in 2003.
