Our story begins with our grandfather, G.W. Anderson. G.W. grew up during the Great Depression. After high school, he began working for F.W. Woolworth Co. where he worked his way up from the bottom, eventually managing several stores in Michigan and Ohio. After the bombing of Pearl Harbor, he entered the U.S. Army Air Force until discharged as a commissioned officer in 1946. After World War II, he returned to Cleveland to manage another Woolworth store. In 1948, he moved his family to Salt Lake City. With the help of a fellow officer he met in the service, G.W. started an oil and gas leasing service, acquiring oil and gas leases and performing various land check duties for major oil companies. After a very difficult first year, he brought in an experienced oil man from Casper, Wyoming as a partner and his leasing business boomed. Within the next year, they had 50 attorneys working in various parts of the Rocky Mountain area. G.W. turned the leasing business over to his partner in 1955..
