Brent Matzelle - CTO, EVP

Brent is an accomplished Chief Technology Officer (CTO), entrepreneur and software architect who thrives in a fast-paced environment where innovation and creativity regarding the solving of business problems is of critical importance. He is a passionate, strategic problem solver who excels at creating flexible, scalable software platforms that integrate with both modern and legacy systems. Brent has over 20 years of experience in the computer technology industry including software design and development, where he led his product development departments by example, both architecting and building software along with the team, setting a very high bar for code quality, efficiency, and customer user experience. Brent's most recent accomplishments were his contributions while serving as the CTO for Homestead Smart Health Plans where he architected and built a modern, multi-layer data access framework and data export system for multiple customer payment, claim, and eligibility integrations. In other roles, he has designed and developed various payment systems, healthcare claim auditing, pricing, and billing systems, and hired and managed high-quality, high-performing technology teams. Brent earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Science from Cabrini College.

David Klein

Mr. Klein brings to the Opyn Market deep experience in health insurance and medical care delivery. He is currently a director of venture capital and private equity funded health care companies. He is chair of the New York State health information exchange. He also serves as a member of the University of Rochester faculty and as a special advisor to their Medical Center CEO. Most of his career has been with BlueCross BlueShield. His assignments included serving as the CEO of Excellus BlueCross BlueShield providing coverage to nearly two million members as well as leading Excellus's home care, medical group, long term care insurance and benefits consulting businesses. He has been an industry leader serving as a director of America's Health InsurancePlans and the national BlueCross BlueShield Association.

Deirdre Farrelly - CMO

As the Director of Marketing at Opyn Market, Deirdre is responsible for creating and accelerating the company's marketing strategy and brand recognition. She is focused on driving the company vision of giving everyone access to the affordable, quality healthcare they deserve by building marketing programs to promote Opyn's exceptional product innovation and purpose driven initiatives. Prior to Opyn Market, Deirdre spent nearly a decade at Chubb, the world's largest publicly traded P&C insurance company. Most recently, she led marketing for the Accident & Health division, where she was accountable for development of the marketing strategy across the US and executed on initiatives that helped business development exceed target growth numbers year over year. She is a graduate of Temple University, holding a Bachelor of Communication from the School of Broadcasting, Telecommunications, and Mass Media.

Elyse Veni

Elyse is responsible for Talent and Business Administration at Opyn Market, which includes human resources, compliance and administration. She has a broad business and human resources background with over 10 years of experience implementing various human resources functions. Before joining the Opyn team, Elyse worked in the staffing and healthcare industries where she had both administrative and strategic responsibilities to enhance the employee experience and ensure smooth and efficient business operations. Elyse is a SHRM Certified Professional and holds a Bachelor of Science in Communications from Millersville University and a Master of Science in Counseling from West Chester University.

Eric Hanson - Founder

As founder and chairman emeritus, Eric Hanson is the visionary behind Opyn's revolutionary open platform for market-driven healthcare services in the workers' compensation space. Previously CEO and chairman of U.S. Strategies, Mr. Hanson has over 28 years of experience guiding companies through the complexities of the U.S. Congress and a variety of government agencies. Under his leadership, Mr. Hanson was instrumental in the founding of the sub-acute care industry working closely with Integrated HealthServices. As an investor and venture capitalist, he served on the advisory board of Acacia Venture Partners and was an early investor in Amerigroup, sold to Anthem, and Select Medical Corporation. Eric also commercialized the 340B pharmacy program by partnering with the National Association of CommunityHealth Centers.

Greg Mast

Greg is an accomplished data and analytics leader with over 30 years of experience in the group health and workers' compensation industries. With a passion for pioneering new uses for existing data, developing cutting-edge tools and converting data into actionable insights, Greg has proven success strategically guiding and driving organizational performance and delivering valuable intelligence to clients. Most recently, Greg led the informatics department at Coventry, where he played a key role in developing one of the largest fully integrated workers' compensation data warehouses in the nation. In addition to customized studies for clients, his team delivered end-to-end informatics for the full suite of company products, with an emphasis on providing easy-to-use, self-service tools. Greg earned a bachelor's degree with honors in Psychology from the University of Cincinnati, has taken graduate work in research methodology and statistics from Xavier University and holds a certificate in workers' compensation from the University of California.

Ian McBane

Ian has a B.S. in Finance from the University of Oregon, and an M.S. inEconomics from Portland State University.

Jamie Derstine

Jamie leads the Operations Script Concierge department, which encompasses inbound and outbound patient communications. He champions improving quality service standards to achieve client management expectations and focuses on implementing new automated workflow systems. Jamie is seasoned customer service operations leader with over 20 years of experience in leadership and development roles in various industries. He possesses solid skills in process improvement, strategic problem solving, cost containment, and organizational change. He gained crucial experience in the Workers' Compensation space with his prior position, as the VP of Operations for MedRisk. In that role, he successfully led his team of over 500 staff members through the pandemic, by means of transitioning operational business units from office environments to work-from-home models, while maintaining service levels and key performance indicators (KPIs).

Judy Webb-Fisher - SVP

Judy is a skilled leader with proven success designing and launching product solutions within the P&C industry. With over 35 years of experience across claims, cost containment, and technology development, she has a deep understanding of the unique needs of the industry and a passion for delivering process enhancements that improve patient care. In her current role as Chief Product Officer, Judy leads the development of Opyn's short and long-term product vision and strategy. Prior to Opyn, Judy served as Vice President of Decision Support at Coventry Workers' Compensation Services, where she successfully delivered the industry's largest workers' compensation data warehouse. In addition, she led the data analytics team in providing critical and complex internal and external data analysis. She also worked as a Director at CNA, where she led a team developing new technology solutions - including electronic claim file and bill payment, and managed medical cost containment programs for claims. She began her career with Cigna P&C and ESIS Inc. in the workers' compensation claim division.

Kim Tzoumakas

Kim is a seasoned healthcare executive and board member, with both public and private company expertise and over 20 years of leadership experience with a focus on strategy and culture. Kim is currently the CEO ofCenter for Diagnostic Imaging, a national leading radiology provider, leading the company's growth strategy throughout the country. Prior to this role, she served as a board member and CEO with 21st Century Oncology, a multi-site international cancer care provider. Kim led 21st Century Oncology through a transformation resulting in a successful sale to GenesisCare in May, 2020. She has extensive board expertise, including currently serving as a board member with Coherus, a publicly traded bio similar company and International OncologyCare, a Latin America based oncology care company.

Lou DiGiovine - CFO, SVP

Matthew Padden - President

With over 37 years of experience across healthcare, workers' compensation, and federal government programs, he has a proven record of driving company-wide growth while delivering highly sought-after, innovative solutions. His passion for bringing transparency and transformation to healthcare guides his vision for Opyn. Prior to joining Opyn, Matthew served as Chief Executive Officer and Chief Sales Officer at Randall and Quilter Investment Holdings(R&Q Health). There, he led the London-based portfolio healthcare company's coordinating service business throughout the United States, specifically for catastrophically injured workers' compensation patients. He spent a majority of his career with Aetna, most recently as SVP, National and Federal Markets where he successfully led national multi-product business growth strategies and client program design, implementation, and management. Matthew earned his undergraduate degree in fine arts from West Virginia University and holds a graduate degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and Administration from Ohio University.

Senator Tom Harkin

Senator Harkin represented Iowa in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1975 to 1985 and was a U.S. Senator from 1985 to 2015. Senator Harkin's legislative career includes Healthcare Access and Reform, Labor and Employment, Americans with Disabilities Act, Retirement Security, Wellness and Nutrition, and Federal Farm Policy. Senator Harkin served as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions. He currently serves as Chairman of the Advisory Board for the National Committee for Social Security and Medicare. Since his retirement from the U.S. Senate, Senator Harkin has served on various boards, and as Senior Advisor to the Harkin Institute for Public Policy and Citizen Engagement (harkininstitute.org), at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.

Steven Z. George

He has led teams in delivering hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue and spearheaded successful new growth initiatives and software platform activations. Travis holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing and Management from Stephen F. Austin State University and a Master of Business Administration in Marketing and Healthcare from the University of Texas-Dallas.
