Archie McGhie

Archie has been teaching since Archimedes discovered his principle, and has a mass of experience teaching in both schools and in outdoor settings around the UK. He loves working with young people, and will always have a story to tell.

Ben Hammond

Ben has a huge amount of experience working with young people who struggle to access mainstream education, and has worked in residential childcare settings. Ben heads up our DofE programmes supporting young people to access qualifications and awards.

Catherine Powell

Catherine's career in nursing and health visiting has embraced practice, strategic leadership, academia and national policy. Specialising in safeguarding and child protection since 1994, she has published and presented her work to local, national, and international audiences and built up strong networks across the child protection community. Between 2009 and 2012 she was national Chair of the British Association for the Study and Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (BASPCAN). In 2013, after leaving her Consultant Nurse post in the NHS, Catherine began working as an independent consultant providing expert advice, leadership and support to a range of statutory and professional bodies. This includes being commissioned to lead serious case and learning reviews, undertake child protection-related research, service audit and evaluation, clinical supervision and the design and delivery of bespoke packages of learning (face to face and e-learning). She has been described as driven, motivated and passionate about the health, education, safety and welfare of children and young people, and in supporting those who have a duty to protect. In 2015 she was made a Fellow of the Institute of Health Visiting. Catherine is Chair of a Primary School governing body on the Isle of Wight. She also supports her community by serving on the Village Hall Committee, organising various events and outreach opportunities. Catherine Powell PhD, BNSc.(Hons.) Joe Staunton

Joe is a young innovator with proven skills in leadership, design, marketing, data management, negotiation and team building. Joe studied Archaeology and Anthropology at the Institute of Archaeology at University College London (UCL), with a particular focus on human behaviour and evolution. Joe is currently Data and Innovation Manager for Sport England, a Government and National Lottery funded body whose remit is to increase physical activity for the whole nation, with an emphasis on marginal groups. Joe has been recognised by Sport England as a competent project manager and innovator; he has managed a number of change programmes designed to improve Sport England's use of data and led innovation programmes to challenge the status quo. Joe is a competitive cyclist and has represented the Isle of Wight at the last two Island Games (a mini Olympics for Islands around the world). He holds the islands only 1st category racing license. He is also a level two squash coach, a level two snowboarding coach and holds a Duke of Edinburgh Gold award alongside currently studying for a masters degree in performance nutrition for athletes. Joe recognises that he has had a fortunate journey to date and wishes to use his skills and drive to assist those who are maybe not so fortunate.

Jude Esau

Jude is neurodivergent (Autistic, ADHD & Dyspraxic) and works for the Isle of Wight's user-led Autistic charity AIM as a peer support worker working with Autistic adults and young people. She also delivers training and workshops to various organisations, educational settings and groups of children and young people focused on understanding the Autistic experience and promoting a positive Autistic identity. Jude is also the parent of a neurodivergent young person who attends OEA.

Rob Williamson

Rob is a very well qualified outdoor leader in a wide range of sports. He gained a BA hons in Outdoor Education with a focus on Personal, Social and Emotional Development and working with Children. He also completed a dissertation on the effect of sport and exercise on learning in school aged children.
