RADICALLY RESILIENT

To make sense of what happens around us, we create a narrative. We are the protagonists, and we designate others as antagonists, costars, and supporting characters. The voice narrating can be positive or negative. When something doesn't go our way, we can paint ourselves the victims or as the reason for the failure. How do you narrate your story? Is your inner voice more negative than positive?... This is also important when looking at events. The narrative we build can color our interactions with others. Coupled with our unconscious biases, we can make judgments about people and events. If we are the heroes in our own stories, we can make others our enemies and only acknowledge information that confirms our narrative. It is critical for managers to avoid making judgments on their reports without attempting to understand their perspective. The same is for coworkers, friends, family, and others in our life. When you make a mistake you don't want to be judged for the rest of your life..
