The sable is perhaps the most beautiful of the African antelope. A mature male is coal-black and over five feet tall at the shoulder. It has magnificent horns that make a scimitar-like sweep back to its hindquarters. They are intensely protective of their family group, sometimes even challenging lions if threatened. The owner's grandfather was named Ernest Black. Sable House was named in his honor, he being an unparalleled provider and protector for his family... Soon after the owners of Sable House were married, Sandy asked Ernest what he wanted out of life. He replied, "A beautiful wife, a great dog and a house in the country where I can entertain folks." Now, having the perfect wife and a Boykin Spaniel, thus began the project... Sable House started off small, and as such things do, grew and grew. The original concept of a one bedroom cottage morphed into four bedrooms and four and one-half baths, two scenic ponds and natural and landscaped grounds that rival any in the South.
