Katie is originally from central Virginia and started playing lacrosse at the age of nine. Her parents strived to keep her well-rounded throughout her childhood, so she also participated in multiple sports, choirs, bands, various community service projects and mission trips, in addition to her rigorous academic schedule. After making varsity as an 8th grader, Katie discovered that her true passion was lacrosse. She ended her high school career as a 5-year varsity member and starter, was selected as an All-Conference and All-State 1st team member, and in her junior year was selected to be a member of the 2009 Virginia chapter of the National Team. In her senior year, Katie signed her National Letter of Intent to play Division 1 lacrosse at Long Island University Brooklyn on a full scholarship. Upon the conclusion of her freshman season, she was selected as a member of the Rookie of the Year Conference Team. After her sophomore year, Katie transferred to the University of Mary Washington where she finished out her college lacrosse career. She was selected as an All-Conference and All-Region player as Mary Washington finished in the top 20 for Division III. After graduating in 2014, Katie moved to San Diego and became the Assistant Women's Lacrosse Coach at UCSD, under Head Coach Andrea Ervay, in 2015 were she has discovered a true love for coaching. In 2016 Katie took over as the Head Women's Lacrosse Coach at UCSD. In addition to TEAM Lacrosse Academy, Katie also works closely with Andrea as the Women's College Lacrosse Recruiting Advisor at Sportsforce, helping to advise high school athletes who have the desire to play at the collegiate lacrosse. Officially partnering together, Katie and Andrea launched TEAM Lacrosse Academy in February of 2016, to aid in the development of female lacrosse players of any age and skill set. Their mission was, and still is, to mentor female student-athletes to help them become the best overall versions of themselves both on and off the field.
