TERRAFFIRM

Terraffirm was established to address the social and economic disruption that will be caused by an increase in average global temperature resulting from the increased greenhouse effect caused primarily by the burning of fossil fuels. This disruption will take the form of rising sea level, more frequent and more intense heat waves and wildfires, changes in rainfall patterns, and, likely, more intense storms... To this end, we conduct and fund research, development, and educational and advocacy activities to bring about awareness of global climate change and and to mitigate its effects. We are focused on methods of carbon sequestration that are scalable and cost-effective... Terraffirm addresses climate change by developing and testing low cost carbon containment methods and by promoting the use of prescribed fire to reduce the frequency and intensity of large scale wildfires.
