That was the question I was asked at a job interview at the age of 19. I bought a rod and reel at a big box store and spent that summer learning all I could from my boss on the rivers and streams of southern New Hampshire. Every summer I got more and more involved with the sport; hunting for new fishing holes in the White Mountains and learning to tie my own flies. In the fall of 2017 a buddy of my suggested that I start making my own fly rods. So in my small apartment, sitting at my kitchen table I built my first rod. I immediately fell in love with the process and the ability to make a rod to my specifications. Within weeks I cleared a space in my apartment to set up a workshop and The Drifting Fly Company was born.
