Born and raised in Tampa, Lakeisha R. Simms attended Thomas Jefferson High School and obtained a certificate from the International Academy of Law and Criminal Justice before becoming a Florida State Seminole. During her time at FSU, Ms. Simms pursued an undergraduate degree in Communications and was an active member of the Black Student Union Political Action Committee, Golden Key Honor Society, National Society for Collegiate Scholars and Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society. Upon completion of her degree, Ms. Simms went on to attend Stetson University College of Law in Gulfport, Florida, studying various areas of law, including bankruptcy, family law and children and the law. She was President of the Black Law Students Association and interned with the Child Advocacy Clinic at the 6th Judicial Circuit Public Defender's Office. Ms. Simms worked part-time in private practice while pursuing her law degree before passing the Florida Bar and joining a firm as an Associate Attorney. Recently, Ms. Simms transitioned to a solo mobile practice in the areas of Family Law, Elder Law, and Small Business Law. Ms. Simms is a member of the Florida Bar's Young Lawyers Division, Legal Needs of Children Committee 2014-2017 and Family Law Section. Ms. Simms also volunteers as an Attorney ad Litem for children in foster care through Crossroads for Florida Kids. Ms. Simms' passion is helping each and every client achieve the best outcome possible-from receiving a fresh start after filing for bankruptcy to successfully negotiating a time-sharing schedule between ex-spouses. In her spare time, Ms. Simms enjoys volunteering on the Mt. Pleasant M.B. Church's Education Committee and spending time with her two nephews.
