UCWANINGO LWETHU

Ucwaningo Lwethu's mission is to reduce medical inequality in South Africa by producing impactful research... A small group of medical practitioners and researchers founded Ucwaningo Lwethu because they were frustrated by persistent medical inequalities in South Africa. While working on a clinical breast cancer project exploring cancer-care disparities across different resource settings, we became aware of the need for an organization that supports South African medical-inequality research... We chose the name Ucwaningo Lwethu ('Our Research' in Zulu) because we wanted it to be clear that we support collaborative research that is not produced or owned by a single person or institution. As the result of a collective endeavor, our research belongs to everyone.
