David Gaines is the Senior Vice President of Public Affairs and Chief Executive Officer of System Retail Services David Gaines joined Ochsner Health in 2010 and is the CEO of System Retail Services & Senior Vice President of Public Affairs. Gaines is responsible for the areas of Executive/Corporate Wellness, the Brent House Hotel, Elmwood Fitness Center, Durable Medical Equipment, and the development and growth of other retail services. Dr. Basow joined Ochsner's team following a 25-year career with global information, software and professional services leader Wolters Kluwer and healthcare start-up UpToDate, where she leveraged innovation and technology to improve the quality of care by bringing evidence-based decision support into clinical workflows. Dr. Basow oversaw tremendous growth of UpToDate as General Manager of the business, before forming a new business within Wolters Kluwer in 2015 called Clinical Effectiveness, where she served as President and CEO. Becker's Hospital Review named Dr. Basow to the list of Women in Health IT to Watch in 2022. Dr. Basow received B.A. in Chemistry, summa cum laude, from Duke University, and her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Leonardo Seoane is the Senior Vice President and Chief Academic Officer for Ochsner Health, the Associate Vice-Chancellor of Academics for LSU Health Shreveport and Interim Chief Executive Officer of Ochsner LSU Health North System. Dr. Leonardo Seoane is the Senior Vice President and Chief Academic Officer for Ochsner Health. In this position, he leads Ochsner's continuum of education including undergraduate, graduate and continuing medical education programs as well as all research initiatives. Additionally, he oversees Ochsner's continued partnership with the University of Queensland School of Medicine and the academic partnership with LSU Health Science Center in Shreveport Louisiana. He is also currently serving as interim chief executive officer at Ochsner LSU Health North System, overseeing the healthcare delivery system in its hospitals, primary care centers, urgent cares, as well as our ambulatory surgery and diagnostic centers in North Louisiana. Dr. Seoane graduated magna cum laude from Loyola University in New Orleans, with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, graduating with Alpha Omega Alpha honors, an elite designation recognizing excellence in scholarship and the highest ideals in the profession of medicine. After medical school, he completed an internship at the University of Alabama Birmingham Medical Center and residency in Internal Medicine at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC) in New Orleans. He continued his education by completing a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine through a combined LSUHSC and Ochsner Medical Center program. He went on to complete a research and clinical fellowship in Lung Transplant at the Ochsner Medical Center where he has been a staff physician since 2002. He has held many leadership roles at Ochsner including Head of University of Queensland Ochsner Clinical School, Senior Deputy Head of Ochsner Clinical School for Curriculum, Clerkship Director for the Critical Care course, Clerkship Director of the Internal Medicine course, and Clerkship Director for Medical Specialties, Associate Program Director for the Ochsner Medical Center Internal Medicine Residency Program, Medical Director of the Ochsner Medical Center Lung Transplant Program, and Chair of the Sepsis Performance Improvement Committee at the Ochsner Medical Center. Dr. Seoane was promoted to Professor of Medicine at the University of Queensland in 2019. Dr. Seoane has won numerous teaching awards, including the Hurst B. Hatch Award for Outstanding Teacher of the Year seven times from 2004 - 2013, the Ochsner Health Spirit of Leadership Award for Teaching in 2006, and the Ochsner Health Physician Academic Contributor of the Year in 2016. Ochsner Executive Leadership Award Physician Leader 2016, New Administrative Leader Award 2018, CEO Award of Excellence 2019. He is regarded as an expert in the management of sepsis and medical education and has been an invited speaker at numerous national and international conferences. He has fostered a research partnership between the University of Queensland Burns, Trauma, and Critical Care Research Center and the Ochsner Medical Center Department of Pulmonary and Critical Care. Dr. Robert Hart is the Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for Ochsner Health. As Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Hart is responsible for overseeing all aspects of physician recruiting and performance, quality improvement and clinical operations within Ochsner's owned and managed hospitals, over 100 urgent care and health centers and its Group Practice of more than 1,300 employed physicians in over 90 medical specialties and subspecialties. Dr. Hart received his undergraduate degree from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, and his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School in Houston, Texas. He completed his internship and residency at the University of Texas Affiliated Hospitals in Houston. Dr. Hart is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics and has been on the staff of Ochsner Clinic Foundation since 1994. After serving as Associate Medical Director for Primary Care at Ochsner Medical Center Baton Rouge for seven years, he served as Medical Director for Ochsner's Baton Rouge Region from August 2008 until December 2014. Mike Hulefeld is the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Ochsner Health. As Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Ochsner Health, Hulefeld has operational responsibility for Ochsner's 40 owned, managed and affiliated hospital and specialty hospitals, more than 100 regional clinic locations and all corporate functions. He joined Ochsner in 1998 and previously served as the Chief Executive Officer of Ochsner Medical Center. After graduating from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, Hulefeld received his Masters Degree in Health Services Administration from the University of Michigan and joined Ochsner as an Administrative Fellow in July, 1998. In 1999, upon completion of the Administrative Fellowship, Hulefeld joined Ochsner Clinic as the Manager of Musculoskeletal Services. In 2001, Hulefeld became Director of the New Orleans Satellite Clinics. From there, Hulefeld was named Vice President of Satellite and Ancillary Services, a position he held for four years. He spent two years as the Chief Operating Officer before serving as the Chief Executive Officer of Ochsner Medical Center - the flagship hospital in Ochsner Health. Scott J. Posecai is the executive vice president, insurance partnerships and treasurer for Ochsner Health. In November 2021, he also was appointed to lead Ochsner Health Network, Louisiana's largest clinically integrated network, continuing its successful focus on risk-based and value-based care delivery models. He also leads the Ochsner Accountable Care Network, now one of the nation's top two large accountable care organizations, with more than 420,000 lives covered under these value-based contracts. Posecai joined Ochsner Clinic in 1987 and was named chief financial officer in 1995, a role he held until the merger of Ochsner Clinic and the Alton Ochsner Medical Foundation in 2001. Upon the merger, he was named chief financial officer of Ochsner Clinic Foundation and assumed the treasurer role in 2018. Effective Jan. 1, 2021, he transitioned into a new role as executive vice president, insurance partnerships and treasurer. He maintains his responsibilities as Treasurer that include Capital Financing, Investment Portfolio Administration, Banking and Tax. Tracey Schiro is the Executive Vice President, Chief Risk and Human Resources Officer for Ochsner Health. Tracey also focuses on sustaining a healthy employee culture, effectively integrating new partner organizations, building a scalable workforce development program and creating an innovative diversity, equity and inclusion strategy.
