Due to the overbearing cosmetic standards of US grocery stores, American farmers are discarding more of their crop than ever before. Depending on the item, we throw away between 30-50% of what we grow-mostly due to cosmetic blemishes, wind scars, and misshapen fruit. We believe ugly produce is food regardless of what the US supermarkets say!...
We want our Veggie Orphans to find homes with people who place more value in vegetables that are organically grown, freshly harvested, conveniently delivered to them at a discounted price-while supporting their local farmer.
