Van Lawrence has called Fairbanks home for over 40 years. In 1978, he embarked on his adventure as an ambitious law graduate seeking to establish his own practice in the Last Frontier. Since 1980 Van has owned and successfully operated a solo law practice in Fairbanks specializing in business and real estate matters. He spent his time working as an attorney and raising his daughter, Alicia, who passed away at the age of 21. Van has been an active member of Kiwanis, a community service organization, since 1980. After his daughter's passing, he decided to get more involved in public service. In recent years, he married his longtime friend, Elaine, who is a proud Air Force veteran... In 2012 Van was elected to two terms on the Fairbanks North Star Borough Assembly (2012-2018), serving the last two years as Deputy Presiding Officer.
