Jay Mahajan

Jay Mahajan is an active duty USAF Lieutenant Colonel and F-16 instructor pilot with twenty-two years of service. He is stationed at Luke AFB, lives in Vistancia with his wife Lauren and their two daughters, and is looking forward to serving veterans that need a little help getting back on their feet

Jerry Comer

Job Titles:

US Marine and Vietnam veteran. Jerry has a degree from Youngstown State University in Criminal Justice and was a police officer in Ohio. He later moved to Arizona where he worked for and retired from Arizona Public Service. While working at APS he conducted investigations for their Corporate Security Department and also worked as a Human Resource Consultant specializing in Employee and Labor Relations. He has also performed volunteer mediation work for the Community Relations Department at Arizona Attorney General's Office.

Joel Stempil

Retired in 2015. Joel was a Stockbroker (Financial Advisor), Branch Manager and Marketing Director For 40 Years. He retired from Morgan Stanley in 2003 and Commonwealth Financial in 2015. Married to Gail for 57 years. Joel has two grown daughters and four terrific grandchildren. He has lived in AZ twice-1989-1993 and later moved back to Scottsdale In 2004.

John Calhoun

John is a CPA currently working with many small businesses. He is retired from the Army National Guard and active in veteran affairs. He currently resides in Peoria, AZ. John will be the chair of the VFC's Audit Committee.

Walter F. Schumacher - Treasurer

Retired U.S. Amy Major. He has a B.S. Business from the University of Kansas. After retirement from the Service, he worked as a federal bank examiner, civilian helicopter pilot and furniture factory manager. Walter retired after 11 years serving as the Production Manager for AmSafe Inc. Butch is responsible for overall financial management of the Veterans Furniture Center. In addition, he regularly works side by side with the volunteers, delivering furniture and household goods the veterans in need.

William Conner - President

Retired MSgt, AZANG. Mr. Conner has been a partner in MedTek Solutions Inc, an IT consultancy to the Medical Industry, for over 20 years. He has been a volunteer with the Veterans Furniture Center for 4+ years, Vice President since 2016 and President since 2019. Bill has overall operational responsibility for the Veterans Furniture Center. In addition, he regularly works side by side with the volunteers, delivering furniture and household goods the veterans in need.

William Garling - VP

Bill is a US Army veteran and a retired Construction Superintendent. He loves the outdoors, is an avid hiker, and is currently the Vice President of a local hiking club. Since his retirement in 2012, he has been actively involved in supporting veteran charities and support groups. He has been a regular volunteer at the Veterans Furniture Center for the past five years. In addition to his duties on the Board of Directors, he regularly works side by side with the volunteers, assembling and repairing furniture and delivering furniture and household goods to the veterans in need.
