FARLEY HOSPITAL - Key Persons
Adam moved into Farley in 2021 with his family. Having grown up in Cirencester, Adam was keen to move back from London to the countryside, although he still does have to work up in London at times. Having spent much of his university days studying and living in East Asia, understanding different cultures and the sense of community that comes from bringing people with different backgrounds together is important to Adam. He feels very strongly that Farley Hospital plays a significant role not only for the residents bit also for the village as a whole and is delighted to be part of the Trustee Board.
Carl is the Chair person of our trustee board. He has lived in Farley since 2015. Post university, he trained as a nurse at Southampton Hospital. The majority of his career however has been spent in the pharmaceutical industry specialising in genetic testing for various cancers and most recently trained for a coaching role. He is passionate about transparency, fairness, and compassion for all through high standards of governance and integrity and sees this as pivotal to the new expanded board of trustees. He views Farley Hospital and the almshouse as a unique asset for the village and residents, one that should be treasured and nurtured for many more centuries to come.
Dave first lived in Farley in 1998 with his wife who grew up in the village. After a sojourn in Winterslow, the couple moved back to the village in 2010 along with their two sons. Dave has worked for the University of Southampton for ‘too many years' in various technical and managerial roles in the IT department. He is currently the Head of Education Services and a long standing member of the Senior Leadership Team.
Dave is a long time supporter of the Salisbury Hospital Stars Appeal and has trekked in China and Jordan to raise money for them. He is booked to trek in Colombia in 2024 and has jumped out of a plane to raise money too! He is also planning to run quite a few marathons.
Dave also likes a bit of gardening and attempts to write fiction.
Emma has lived in Farley since 2017 and has only recently joined the board of trustees. Having worked in London for many years in marketing, Emma, together with her husband Jason, ran their own successful business. With 3 children growing up fast Emma now wants to help a charity close to home and is very committed to helping to raise the necessary funds so Farley Hospital can continue for years to come.
Jason chaired the Farley Hospital Board of Trustees from the inception of the new board in Summer 2020 until Dec 2021. He has led the charity through re-creation as a CIO and along with previous Trustees Adam and Lucy, Jason has built a new expanded board with a diverse skill base and a shared care for the trust and the work it does.
Jo's 20-year career in charity fundraising includes spells at Anthony Nolan Trust, British Heart Foundation, Help for Heroes, Sue Ryder and most recently a disaster response charity. Jo is an enthusiastic and compassionate campaigner, who wants supporters to feel as inspired as she does.
Jo has experience working with major donors and corporate sponsors, communicating the passion of the charity's staff and volunteers and the impact of its work to attract equally passionate supporters. Trusts and Foundations are her specific skill set, creating and submitting compelling cases for support to enable charities longevity.
The Parsons family has lived in Farley for centuries and Jo is a proud member of the Farley Community, sitting on the Playing field committee and Fete Committee. She is also former warden and staunch advocate for the importance of Farley Hospital as part of Farley's history.
Michelle lives with her family in Downton and has been Warden at Farley Hospital for 9 years. Alongside her role at Farley, she works with secondary school children and specialising in SEMH.
Nick is the Managing Director of a very successful architects practice that has been in practice for many years. He is passionate about the Farley Hospital building and oversees surveys, installations and repairs as they are required.
Nick gets involved in all aspects of our charity work, from flipping burgers, to leading the dancing at parties. He also cares greatly about our residents and works hard to make sure their homes are as good as the can be.
Sally is a local businesswoman, who has run a Marketing and Adverting Fieldwork agency for over 16 years from her home in Alderbury.
Before this, she was employed in London for various agencies in Advertising and Market Research for over 23 years.
Sally volunteers in lots of local and charitable roles. She currently volunteers twice a week with Alabare, at their Drop-in-centre for vulnerable homeless drug & alcohol abusers, and is also an ageUK volunteer, taking Information & Advice to U3a meetings in Salisbury twice a month.
Sally says "I am very pleased to now be a Trustee board member for Farley hospital almshouses and am very much enjoying this role."
Steve has joined the trustees after recently retiring from 15 years in successive positions, in two other charities. In each case as their director of finance and operations / company secretary.
Previously Steve also held trustee positions with a local homelessness charity and with a local church. Prior to that, he had a long business career with Boots (over 28 years) in a series of management roles.
Following an initial degree from Oxford, Steve also holds various professional qualifications including an MBA, a LEAN Six Sigma Black Belt and a CIPFA charity finance diploma. Locally based, and with a heart for the work of the charity world in general, Steve looks to support the work of the hospital, whether the building itself or its residents, in whatever ways his past experience and qualifications may allow.
