The Charity was established in 1709 following the death of Michael Yoakley, a Quaker businessman. He had been born in the Margate area of poor parentage, but at the age of 14 he started work as a ship's boy on hoy boats which sailed between the Kent ports and central London... Our staff are trained to the highest levels and since 2008 we have had our own state of the art training annexe to ensure that not only our own staff but also those from other local bodies can continue to hone and improve their skills... Caring with Excellence Yoakley comprises of 48 almshouse cottages and bungalows, and a residential care home with 31 single ground floor ensuite rooms
