  • Physician
After migrating to the US in 1991 to finish her pre-med requirements, Dr. Hengameh Monsef graduated from Western University of Health Sciences and completed her residency at Huntington Memorial Hospital (HMH). She went on to work for the Academic Hospitalist Group at Huntington Memorial Hospital where she cared for indigenous and community patients and worked to improve quality of care by focusing on evidence-based medicine. Shortly thereafter, she was recruited to become one of the main teaching faculty physicians for the internal medicine residency program where she was involved with providing resident with both academic teaching and bedside rounds. During the same time, Dr. Monsef also became an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at UCS's Keck School of Medicine. Today, she continues her involvement in quality improvement at HMH through safety measures, protocol changes, performing peer-reviews and standardized best practices amongst colleagues by serving as chair of the clinical steering committee and chair elect for quality management. As a DO, Dr. Monsef believes in the art of medicine and that one can only be an exceptional physician if he/she can integrate his/her wealth of knowledge with compassion and great care toward patients. She has strong convictions about the need for patients' personal experiences, cultural background and views to be an integral part of a physician's care. This all-embracing approach allows more effectiveness in molding a plan of care for each patient's unique needs.
