We do know it all started out with an ad in the local newspaper in 1957 - Earl Boen looking for someone to play chess with. Bill Wall captured the early years of the Dayton Chess Club…... There's always a rated USCF game in 25 on Friday nights …. nominal entry fee of $14 for non-members, $10 for members, prizes based on entries. And of course, there's always players looking for a game or two who don't play in the tournament!... This is our "Scholastic Knights" evening, geared towards K-12 students - learn to play, learn simple tactics. Adults are welcomed to join in - all for the reduced rate of $4.00 for an evening membership. Typically there is a lecture at 7pm - and we encourage anyone to volunteer to lecture!
