Charlie Proutt - Founder

Charlie is the owner, founder and head landscape architect for Distinctive Landscaping. His love of design drives his work, resulting in many awards over the years. He has served and chaired the Vermont Urban Forestry Council as well as the Vermont Association of Professional Horticulturists. Charlie especially loves the hands-on aspects of design/build landscaping. When not working, Charlie enjoys sailing, hiking, camping, bicycling and skiing.

Christian D'Andrea

Christian started landscaping with Distinctive in 1994, and though not a native Vermonter has lived and worked here for 38 years. He lives with his wife Heidi and five-year-old daughter Adelheid in Vergennes. His son, Quinn, is a senior at Ave Maria at the University in FL. Christian really enjoys the artistry of what we do. Whether building walls, fabricating cedar arbors, or installing bluestone walkways he sees the beauty in everything we do, in some of the most beautiful places in Vermont and New York.

Elizabeth Proutt

Elizabeth Proutt has been designing and managing landscaping projects at Distinctive Landscaping since 2014. She studied Environmental Design at CU Boulder. In her free time, she snowboards, hikes, plays soccer, and travels.

Miles Weston

Job Titles:
  • Landscape Designer
A native Vermonter and graduate of Wesleyan University and The Conway School of Landscape Design, Miles has been working as a designer for over 25 years and is inspired by the indigenous landscape of the Champlain Valley. He has a broad range of design experience in planning, resort, and residential projects, and appreciates the process of site analysis and design. He has a son attending Berklee College of Music and a son in Middle School, and enjoys working on his farm raising beef cattle and playing hockey in his spare time.
