Adam Siepel is Professor in the Watson School of Biological Sciences and Chair of the Simons Center for Quantitative Biology at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. Siepel studied engineering at Cornell (1990-1994), then worked in software development for bioinformatics for several years in the late 1990s, before attending graduate school in Computer Science (M.S., University of New Mexico, 2001, and Ph.D., UC Santa Cruz, 2005). He was on the faculty of the Department of Biological Statistics and Computational Biology at Cornell from 2006 to 2014, where he taught courses in computational genomics and machine learning, directed Cornell's Ph.D. program in Computational Biology, and served as an associate director for the Cornell Center for Comparative and Population Genomics (3CPG). Siepel has also served on the editorial boards for Genome Research and PLoS Computational Biology, on review panels for the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health, and on advisory committees for the National Human Genome Research Institute. Siepel is a winner of a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Microsoft Research New Faculty Fellowship, a Packard Fellowship, a National Science Foundation CAREER Award, and a Sloan Research Fellowship.

Aruna Balasubramanian

Prior to that, she was a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Washington in Seattle. She received her PhD from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in February 2011. She completed her Masters degree at SUNY Buffalo. Aruna Balasubramanian's work incorporates elements of both networking and systems in the context of mobile devices. The goal of her work is to design mobile protocols/systems that radically improve performance. Current mobile system designs make assumptions, that while true for the wired environment, are not valid for the mobile environment. Instead, she wants to re-architect mobile systems to better support current and next-generation applications. Dr. Balasubramanian's recent projects include MobileHub (reduces energy consumption of always-on sensing applications by leveraging heterogenous hardware), WProf (a tool that identifies the bottlenecks during page load), and FindAll (makes mobile applications less reliant on the cloud by building a local search engine on phones, that lets users search locally).

She also directs Computer Science and Mathematics Research at Brookhaven National Laboratory. Dr. Chapman has performed research on parallel programming interfaces and the related implementation technology for over 20 years and has moreover engaged in efforts to develop community standards for parallel programming, including OpenMP, OpenACC and OpenSHMEM. Her research group created the state-of-the-art OpenUH compiler that enabled practical experimentation with parallel language extensions and the corresponding implementation techniques. The group also created a reference implementation of the library-based OpenSHMEM programming interface. Dr. Chapman has co-authored over 200 papers and two books. She obtained a B.Sc. with 1st Class Honours in Mathematics from the University of Canterbury and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Queen's University of Belfast.

Chuan Huang, Ph.D. received his B.S. in Mathematics (Computational and Information Sciences) in 2006 from University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), his PhD in Mathematics (minor in Optical Sciences) in 2012 from The University of Arizona. He conducted his PhD research in the Department of Radiology of The University of Arizona Medical Center on Magnetic Resonance Imaging. He joined the Center for Advanced Medical Imaging Sciences at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and Harvard Medical School (HMS) in 2012 as a Research Fellow. He was later promoted to Assistant in Physics (MGH) and Instructor (HMS) in June 2014. In October 2014, he joined the faculty of Stony Brook University. He is now an Assistant Professor in Research Radiology and Psychiatry. Chuan Huang's research interests includes Simultaneous PET/MRI, Medical Imaging Reconstruction/Analysis, Quantitative Methods for Medical Imaging, Rapid MRI. His PhD research focused on image analysis/reconstruction and parametric MRI. He developed a radial FSE technique to obtain the T2 map for the entire brain within 2 minutes of acquisition time. In 2012, Dr. Huang extended his research interest into simultaneous PET/MRI. Dr. Huang is the first author of the first paper on MR microcoil based PET motion correction for head; this work was featured in a press release of the 2013 annual meeting of SNMMI. Dr. Huang had been leading the MR effort of the simultaneous PET/MRI projects during his stay in the Center of Advanced Medical Imaging Sciences at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Xin Wang is currently an associate professor of the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Prior to joining the department, she was an assistant professor in the department of computer science and engineering of SUNY at Buffalo between 2003 and 2005, and was a Member of Technical Staff in the area of mobile and wireless networking at Bell Labs Research, Lucent Technologies, New Jersey between 2001 and 2003. She received the BS and MS degrees in telecommunications engineering and wireless communications engineering from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Beijing, China, respectively, and the PhD degree in electrical engineering from Columbia University, New York, NY. Xin Wang is the faculty member of Wireless and Networking Systems Lab (WINS Lab). WINS group conducts research in the areas of wireless networking, mobile computing as well as network sensing and detection. Their vision is of network systems that provide robust and seamless services to the end users, and wireless network infrastructure that can provide significantly higher capacity, scalability and reliability.
