Dena S. Ashlock is senior vice president, chief actuary and chief risk officer of Symetra Financial Corporation and its insurance subsidiaries. Appointed chief actuary in April 2019, Ms. Ashlock guides the company's product pricing strategies and actuarial aspects of financial reporting. She had previously served as corporate actuary since 2009. In February 2018, she added the title of chief risk officer to her responsibilities, with oversight for Symetra's processes for identifying significant business risks and developing the strategies for managing those risks. Ms. Ashlock joined Symetra in 1998 as an actuarial student in the Retirement Division before moving into the Finance Department. She was named assistant vice president in 2008, vice president in 2010, and was promoted to senior vice president in 2018. Ms. Ashlock is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries. She graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Science in math.

Harry S. Monti is executive vice president, Benefits Division, for Symetra Financial Corporation and its insurance subsidiaries. He is responsible for the company's medical stop-loss insurance products and Workforce Benefits product line that includes group life, group disability income, absence management and supplemental health voluntary products. Mr. Monti joined Symetra in June 2014 as vice president, Life and Disability operations, with nearly 25 years of experience in the group benefits industry. He was named senior vice president for the Workforce Benefits product line in April 2018. Prior to joining Symetra, Mr. Monti was a Director of Insurance Advisory Services with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in Hartford, Conn. He had previously spent 13 years in senior level operational and claims roles within The Hartford's group benefits, retirement plans and enterprise-wide shared services organizations. His professional background also includes financial management roles at MassMutual and UNUM. Mr. Monti earned a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Thomas College in Waterville, Maine. Ms. Veneziani joined Symetra in 1998 as a lawyer in its Law department. She was named vice president and associate general counsel in 2010 and promoted to deputy general counsel and senior vice president in 2017. Over the course of Ms. Veneziani's career at Symetra, she has advised on variable insurance products, retirement products, fixed and fixed indexed annuity products, individual life insurance, annuity product development, and life and retirement operational and compliance issues. Prior to joining Symetra, she was an associate with a Seattle law firm. Ms. Veneziani currently serves on the board of governors of the Association of Life Insurance Counsel. She earned a double degree (B.A.) in economics and international studies from the University of Washington. She received her law degree with honors from the University of Washington, where she also served as articles editor for the Washington Law Review. Margaret Meister is president and chief executive officer of Symetra Financial Corporation and president of its insurance subsidiaries. She is also a member of the company's board of directors. Ms. Meister joined Symetra in 1988 as an actuarial student. She was appointed chief actuary in 2004 and chief financial officer (CFO) in February 2006, assuming responsibility for the company's financial strategy and operations. She became president and chief executive officer in February 2018. As a member of the company's executive leadership team, Ms. Meister played a principal role in Symetra's initial public offering in 2010, as well as its successful acquisition by Sumitomo Life in 2016. In addition to her responsibilities as CFO, she served as chief information officer from 2014 to 2016, leading the Information Technology department during the transition of the company's data center. She also has had responsibility for Symetra's brand strategy development through her oversight of the company's marketing, advertising and communications programs. Ms. Meister is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries. She graduated from Whitman College with a bachelor's degree in math. Mark Hunt is executive vice president and chief investment officer of Symetra Financial Corporation and its insurance subsidiaries. In this role, Mr. Hunt directs the company's investment policy and strategy, and oversees Symetra's approximately $35 billion investment portfolio. Mr. Hunt joined Symetra in 2015 from White Mountains Advisors LLC, a financial investment advisory firm headquartered in Guilford, Connecticut, where he was managing director. He joined White Mountains in 2004 and was responsible for all life company portfolios and alternative investments for all clients, including Symetra. Prior to White Mountains Advisors, Mr. Hunt headed portfolio risk management and alternative investments at Hartford Life. His more than three decades of experience in the insurance industry also includes actuarial and investment management roles at State Mutual Life and Connecticut Mutual. Mr. Hunt graduated from the University of Chicago, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree, with honors, in Mathematics and Statistics. She held multiple senior communications roles during her decade-long tenure and was responsible for managing the agency's complex interactions with multiple local, regional and state governing bodies. Prior to Sound Transit, Ms. Parker was vice president of the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce, leading the business organization's marketing and communications functions on behalf of its 1,100 members. Ms. Parker serves on a number of civic and community boards, including the Bellevue Downtown Association board of directors, which she chairs, and KidsQuest Children's Museum. She is a member of the Corporate Advisory Board for the Greater Seattle Business Association (GSBA), the largest LGBTQ business organization in the United States, and a commissioner of the Seattle Sports Commission. She formerly served on the Foundation Board for Western Washington University. Mr. Severin joined Symetra in March 2011 as western divisional sales manager for retirement products and was promoted to vice president of national sales the following year. In December 2017, he was named senior vice president, Retirement Distribution, with responsibility for the division's sales, sales operations, relationship management, product marketing and business technology teams. Prior to Symetra, Mr. Severin was national sales director of financial institution markets at Great-West Life & Annuity Insurance Company in Denver.
