Dr. Kerby Lynch

Dr. Kerby Lynch received her doctorate from UC Berkeley and has been heavily involved in the development of blockchain programs at the University, including Blockchain @ Berkeley. Kerby entered into blockchain development because she saw it as a vehicle for systemic economic adjustment for low income and POC communities. Kerby wants to ensure that the aspect of economic justice is prioritized as the blockchain sector continues to go mainstream. Through her work at DCTA, Kerby hopes to expand educational opportunities for low-income communities by creating blockchain developer certificate programs at community colleges. Kerby currently resides in Berkeley, CA.

Jim McCarthy

Jim McCarthy was a founding member of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and was the key architect in establishing the CFPB's complaint process. He is a nationally recognized expert on CFPB regulation and a leader in navigating the private sector consumer financial risk environment. McCarthy has an extensive history of balancing private sector needs with fighting to protect consumers. He believes opportunities are not being realized today in the space between regulation and profit. From implementing CFPB's Regulation DD (Truth in Savings) and internet banking to participating in Remittance, TILA-RESPA Integrated Disclosure (TRID) rules, and CFPB rule writing, McCarthy understands balancing regulations and business needs. McCarthy also has extensive professional experience in the consumer financial environment, is a graduate of Minnesota State University, and has earned professional certifications from George Washington University and the Wisconsin Bankers Association Graduate Banking School

Joe Ciccolo

Joe is the Founder & President of BitAML, a compliance advisory firm exclusively serving the Bitcoin and cryptocurrency market. Founded in 2015, BitAML has served hundreds of innovative clients including bitcoin ATM operators, cryptocurrency exchanges, OTC desks, trading platforms, DeFi projects, NFT marketplaces, cryptocurrency hedge funds, prepaid crypto cards, and lenders. Joe is a frequent guest speaker at both cryptocurrency and compliance industry events, and conducts formal training for bank executives, compliance officers, the investor community, and members of law enforcement. He also advises a growing number of traditional institutions that offer banking services to, or partner with, cryptocurrency companies. Joe is a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) and Anti-Money Laundering Certified Associate (AMLCA). He is a graduate of Northeastern University, College of Criminal Justice.

Kevin Trommer

Kevin Trommer is an accomplished communications and public policy strategist with nearly a decade of governmental affairs experience working with nonprofit, public agency, private sector, and Fortune 500 clients. Kevin specializes in taking complex policy concepts and distilling them into clear, concise, and effective communication narratives that can be leveraged to establish beneficial partnerships, a talent he utilizes to catalyze positive systemic and organizational change. In the past he helped craft and implement regulatory consumer protections for the Property Assessed Clean Energy program in Los Angeles County. He has been a part of the digital currency space since 2013, when he first discovered Bitcoin and immediately recognized its enormous innovative potential. He is excited to lend his talents and historic perspective to the DCTA in order to help facilitate the adoption of digital currencies through establishing strategic partnerships and implementing robust education and consumer protection programs. Kevin earned his bachelor's degree in Political Science with an emphasis in Comparative Politics and a minor in African Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he graduated Cum Laude with honors.

Lauren Day

Lauren Day is Compliance Manager at cryptocurrency exchange Binance.US, with extensive experience working in regulatory compliance. Prior to Binance.US, Lauren was a compliance analyst at BitFlyer USA. She received a masters' degree in Financial Crime Management in 2019 from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies. She is passionate about expanding regulatory trust and understanding of the cryptocurrency industry in the United States.

Mayra Hernandez

Mayra Hernandez was born in Mexico City and has lived in San Diego most of her life. Before graduating from Law School, she obtained a Bachelors and Masters in Mathematics. After which she worked on research in applied mathematics and taught mathematics. After successfully passing the California Bar exam, she is now ready to contribute as a licensed attorney. In law school, Mayra helped advise how to navigate the trademarking process and protect intellectual property. Mayra has written about the crypto space and is interested in Intellectual Property prosecution. Not an artist by trade, she loves to see the creative process unfold because Art, being older than written language, it's so intertwined with our humanity that it can't but also in simple and complex ways touch notions of how societies are organized and how us humans build, create, discover and express a connection with one another. As new media forms mature, our own legal systems need to mature and evolve alongside. And in the process, offering our science and technology vitality in new expressive outlets. She served as Intramural Athletics Director for Cal Western's Student Bar Association and is a past president of SDSU's Association for Computing Machinery. She's an ardent education advocate with over a decade of experience. In her free time. Mayra enjoys hanging out, traveling, hiking, and being outdoors. She loves trying out new recipes. Being mostly vegetarian for the past decade has given her new opportunities to reinvent old favorite recipes or to think of new combinations. Mayra is a certified yoga teacher and can't wait to go out dancing!

Nate Bradley

Nate Bradley has 10 years of government relations and coalition building experience. Prior to getting into politics, he worked in law enforcement for seven years. Over the last decade Nate has collaborated with, and contributed substantially to, numerous policy reform organizations. Amongst his repertoire of accomplishments, Nate is best known for founding the California Cannabis Industry Association in 2013. In 2015 he assembled a never-before-seen coalition of cannabis advocates, local government, tech, banking, law enforcement, and other advocacy organizations to establish a statewide regulatory system for medical marijuana in California. That achievement precipitated a profile by Buzzfeed News that dubbed Nate as California's "Most Effective Pot Lobbyist." He has been quoted in numerous publications including the New York Times and has authored opinion pieces for newspapers and websites all over the country, including the Huffington Post.
