In 2009 I left my corporate career in online marketing to be a wife and a mom. I wanted to run my own business and take care of my growing kids, so I started renovating our Boston house between changing diapers and making dinner. Growing up in Norway I helped my mother renovate my parents house and manage their large yard. During my years in college in England and Australia I spent every day watching house flipping and garden rescue shows. Our Boston house slowly transformed from ‘any place' and into the ‘white picket house' of my dreams. I ripped up vinyl floors and lay down real wood. Cheap counters made way for marble. Old light fixtures moved aside for recessed lights. I designed my first master bath and moved walls. When our family followed my husband to Seattle for his new tech job, the house sale went like a wildfire and my profits soared. I have been fortunate to flip and sell many houses across WA, CA and Norway since that first house. I have put up many new picket fences..
