Caitlin Hornback joined the Nacogdoches Fire Department as the full-time Office Assistant I in November 2023 after working part-time with the Nacogdoches Historic Sites since July 2019. She grew up in Allen, TX where she graduated from Allen High School before moving to Nacogdoches to attend Stephen F. Austin State University.
As the Office Assistant, Caitlin is one of the liaisons between the public and the department to help answer questions and schedule events where a firefighter/fire truck is wanted such as birthday parties, career days, or fire safety demonstrations. The Office Assistant is also responsible for helping the department with various tasks for daily operation such as ordering supplies, preparing travel documents for training purposes, etc. as well as helping maintain the Nacogdoches Fire and Rescue Facebook page and the Fire and Rescue City webpage. Although Caitlin is new to the department, she has enjoyed helping the public as much as she can and getting to know the crew. She is looking forward to working on the museum to get it back up and running for visitors.

Jason Tobias joined the Nacogdoches Fire Department in October 2001 and was promoted to Division Chief in March 2024. Before becoming the Division Chief, Tobias served as a Fire Captain for 15 years and a Driver/Engineer before that. He has also served the department as a Fire Inspector, Fire Instructor, and relief Battalion Chief. Tobias holds certifications as a Master Firefighter, Master Inspector, Fire Officer II, Fire Instructor II, Incident Commander, EMS Instructor, and he is a Licensed Paramedic. He has an associate degree in emergency medical services and he is completing his BAAS in Emergency Serviced Administration at UNT Dallas.
As Division Chief, Tobias oversees departmental compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies, technical code inspections and new business development, as well as fleet maintenance. The Division Chief assists with recruitment, hiring, training, and promotional processes and serves as the Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator.

Michael Self is a 20-year veteran of the Nacogdoches Fire and Rescue. He began serving as the Division Chief of Training and Safety in December 2019 until his appointment as Assistant Chief in January 2024. Chief Self holds 10 certifications with the Texas Commission on Fire Protection including, Master Structural Firefighter, Fire Inspector, Fire Investigator, Fire Officer IV, and Incident Commander. He is also certified as a Licensed Paramedic through the Texas Department of State Health Services. Chief Self is a proud graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Science degree.
Chief Mike Brown has been the Fire Chief for Nacogdoches since January 2024. Prior to his current assignment, Chief Brown served the City of Nacogdoches in various roles including Code Enforcement Officer, Fire Inspector, Fire/Arson Investigator, Firefighter, Driver-Engineer, Fire Captain, Fire Marshal and Interim Fire Chief from March 2023 until his appointment as Fire Chief.

In addition to being the Fire Chief for the City of Nacogdoches, Brown leads in fire and emergency response, fire prevention, fire emergency response, fire investigation, emergency management, and life safety and code compliance. Brown earned an Associates Degree in Fire Administration from Weatherboard College and is a Texas Department of State Health Services Emergency Medical Technician, Master Firefighter, Master Peace Officer, Master Fire Inspector, and Master Arson Investigator.
Chief Brown is a lifelong resident of the Nacogdoches area, and he and his wife, Larissa Philpot-Brown, are proud to call Nacogdoches their home.

Seth Johnson has been with Nacogdoches Fire and Rescue since 2004 and the Administrative Captain since 2020. He is certified as an Advanced Firefighter, Inspector, Paramedic, and Divemaster and is the Department's Dive Team Leader. His responsibilities as the Administrative Captain include performing Technical and High Hazard Occupancy inspections, work on special committees, including Pre-Development and Special Events, with other city departments and outside customers and to respond to emergencies as needed.
Terri Martin is the Fire Services Coordinator of the Nacogdoches Fire Department. She is responsible for all office administration functions and is the custodian of records for the department. Terri takes pride in providing excellent customer service to the city and her department.
