NOTTINGHAMSHIRE LMC - Key Persons
Dr Andy Sommers qualified in Leicester in 1994. He is currently a GP partner at Millview Surgery in Mansfield. Previous roles include BASICS immediate Care Doctor, General Practitioner with Special Interest in Substance Misuse and CCG mental health lead. He is passionate about the importance of general practice and generalists and joined the LMC to help support this vital role.
Dr Aneel Bilkhu qualified in Leeds and returned to Nottingham where he completed his VTS and has been working as a partner at Torkard Hill Medical Centre, Hucknall for the past 10 years.
Aneel has completed an MSC in sports and exercise medicine and has a particular interest in education and enjoys teaching the medical students, registrars and foundation trainees at the practice; he is qualified as a GP trainer.

Dr Anna Podlasek is the co-opted GP Trainee Representative for Nottingham and is in the final year of her training. She is keen to hear from current GP specialty trainees about the ways in which she can support them through training.

Dr Bex Clegg is the co-opted GP Trainee Representative for Sherwood Forest GP Training Programme. Bex is a General Practice trainee at an ST1 level, working part-time, alongside working part time as a NHS England East Midlands Leadership Fellow, redesigning and updating the regional East Midlands Leadership and Management Programme.
Dr Khayat completed his medical degree at the University of Warwick Medical School. He underwent Foundation and VTS training in the West Midlands before moving to the East Midlands. He is a GP partner at Rivergreen Medical Centre in Clifton, Nottingham. He has also worked as a locum GP, salaried GP as well as out of hours GP. He also holds the post of Deputy Clinical Director for Clifton and Meadows Primary Care Network. He has previously been involved in training and would be keen to pursue this further. In his spare time, he is a keen football fan who occasionally plays too and coaches a local grassroots children's football team.
Dr Greg Place has been a GP locally for over 30 years, and involved in the LMC for more than half that time. He is a GP Partner at Ashfield House Surgery. He has recently acquired an interest in teaching and has first, second and fifth year medical students. Greg makes the occasional media appearance and outside medicine is a keen amateur musician.
Dr Helen Garr is a portfolio GP working at the University of Nottingham health service and in urgent care with a keen interest in mental health and wellbeing. She is passionate about supporting the wellbeing of health care professionals and is the Medical Director of NHS Practitioner Health, a national service supporting doctors and dentists with mental health and addiction difficulties.
She has a background in psychology and nursing prior to entering medicine and utilises her psychology interest to underpin her work as a coach and mentor for doctors. She is a Public Health England (PHE) clinical champion for physical activity and a Director of the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine.
Dr Garr is a recognised leader in the field of health care professional wellbeing and has delivered many national key note speeches and wellbeing workshops. She is also Nottinghamshire LMC Wellbeing lead and sits on the RCGP National wellbeing working group and BMA wellbeing stakeholders committee. Alongside her keen interest in wellbeing Dr Garr can be found running half marathons, practising mindfulness and can be found on social media @TheWellbeingGP.

Dr Hussain Gandhi is a GP and trainer in Nottingham city working at Wellspring Surgery. He is also a national RCGP council representative, treasurer of GPSurvival and a clinical director of Nottingham City PCN. He also holds various other roles including supporting clinicians with technology-enhanced primary care and learning with his eGPlearning platform.
Dr James Hopkinson has been a GP Partner in Calverton for 22 years. He has been a local clinical leader for many years - including being chair of NNE CCG and Joint Chair of Notts and Nottinghamshire ICS.
He is also dual trained - working as a consultant in Sport and Exercise Medicine at NUH until he became CCG chair. James is passionate about General Practice being the bed rock of the NHS, and is motivated to protect GPs and General Practice for the benefit of our local population. When not working James runs to keep fit, and is a keen snowboarder.
Dr James Waldron is a portfolio GP in Nottingham and an associate with NATH. He is also the Vale of Trent First 5 Lead and a Phoenix Programme GP Tutor. In his free time he is a keen musician, playing the guitar and bass and having been part of jazz, rock, metal and salsa bands. He also plays the violin with the Nottingham Symphony Orchestra.
Dr Jen Moss Langfield is a graduate of Nottingham University Medical School and completed her GP training in Mansfield in 2012. She is the First5 lead on the Vale of Trent RCGP Faculty board and is on the First5 committee nationally.
She has been a GP partner in Bulwell, Nottingham and prior to this has worked as both a salaried and sessional GP. Jen has interests in Dermatology and Medicines Management and Medical Education and is in the process of becoming a GP trainer.
Dr Jessica Court is a salaried GP at Southwell Medical Centre. She studied Medicine at the University of Birmingham and completed GP training in Mansfield in 2023. Dr Court has an interest in doctor wellbeing, fostered through her time serving on the BMA Medical Students Committee and Junior Doctor Committee. This included being selected by the BMA as a negotiator for the junior doctor contract, and also overseeing large projects to improve rest facilities for junior doctors.
In her spare time, Dr Court enjoys playing netball for her local team.

Dr Kalindi Krishna Tumurugoti is portfolio GP, doing locum work and out of hours sessional work. He was previously a GP partner.
He has been on the LMC since September 2011, firstly as trainee representative then as a full member. He is also currently co-deputy chair of BMA East Midlands and chairs Notts LMC sessional subcommittee. He represents sessional GPs, as East Midlands Representative, on the UK Sessional GPs' committee. He also sits on the board of RCGP Vale of Trent Faculty.

Dr Kerri Sallis qualified in Manchester and completed her GP training at Lincolnshire. She is a PCN Clinical Director and Deputy Medical Director for a local GP federation.
Her specialist interests are in improving the primary/secondary care interface and supporting sustainable general practice. In her free time, she enjoys travelling and spending time with her family and two young children.
Dr Khalid Butt qualified in Medicine in 1986 at Leicester before joining Oakwood Surgery which is a large practice with almost 15,000 patients. He has served on the LMC since 1999 and is a PCN Clinical Director. In his spare time, Dr Butt enjoys dancing and long dog walks in the countryside with his family.
Dr Lauren Taylor qualified from the Nottingham GP training scheme, having graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2014. She has worked in the East Midlands since she qualified as a doctor and joined the LMC committee in August 2020.
Lauren has interests in primary care research, clinical leadership and strategy and ENT and mental health. She is taking on a fellowship role with a focus on care homes at Rushcliffe PCN for the year 2020-21 and works as a salaried GP at Castle Healthcare Practice. Lauren is passionate about improving and innovating primary care services and has joined the LMC committee to be able to drive change within General Practice. Outside of medicine, she loves yoga, running and good food.

Dr Rebecca Ilett is Managing Partner at Kingfisher Family Practice in Retford, having joined the LMC in 2023. Rebecca is a qualified GP trainer and has a specialist interest in training and education.
Dr Sarah Armitage is a GP at the University of Nottingham Health Service. She initially trained as a paediatrician before switching to general practice. She has trained and worked across Oxfordshire and the South West before moving to Nottingham. She has worked as a locum GP and is now a salaried GP. She specialises in young people's health, is involved in primary care research within her practice and supports the practice training programme for the VTS and medical students. She sits on the panel of the University of Nottingham's Mental Health Liaison Project.
Dr Armitage is a mentor on the Phoenix Programme's New to Practice GP Scheme and runs the East Midlands Next Generation GP Programme.
Dr Shan Hussain is a GP partner, appraiser and clinical supervisor working in Newark. He was born and raised in Nottingham, graduated from Imperial College, London in 1999, and returned shortly after to continue his post-graduating training in Mansfield and Ashfield.
He has practised as a GP since 2007 and remains a fearless advocate for the profession. He presently holds a seat on the BMA Council, and recently served as a member of the GPC where he was elected as national policy lead for workforce and organisational development. He currently serves as an ambassador for the registered charity ‘Doctors In Distress'.
Dr Umar Ahmad qualified from the University of Bristol, completing his foundation training in Oxfordshire and then completed his GP training in Nottinghamshire. He was born and grew up in Nottingham so knows the area very well.
He is a GP Partner at Plains View Surgery and has been the Clinical Director for Arrow Health Primary Care Network for the last 3 years. He also has an interest in Travel Medicine.
Emma joined Nottinghamshire LMC as Practice Liaison Officer December 2021. She has an extensive healthcare background working within primary care in Nottingham City with over nine years' experience working in various non-clinical roles and more recently as Practice Manager for four years.

Janet is our longest serving member of staff and has been with the LMC since 1993. She is responsible for staff salaries and the office accounts and works part-time.

Jonathan joined the LMC as the co-opted Practice Manager Representative in early 2023. He has worked in primary care for nearly 30 years, most of that time as a practice manager working with different practices, varying in size, structure, and outlook.
Outside of the NHS he has served as a school governor at a local primary school and for the last two years has been chair of the governing body.
Lucy joined Nottinghamshire LMC in 2018 after working for 10 years in the Independent Sector in a variety of operational and administrative roles. With a Master's Degree in Public Health and having worked previously as a Clinical Audit/Research and Development Facilitator, Lucy brings this knowledge and experience with her in this role.

Michael joined the LMC in September 2013 as Head of Liaison. On 1 April 2016, he became Chief Executive following the retirement of Chris Locke at the end of March 2016.
Michael is an experienced medical manager with previous roles in locum practice management, Clinical Commissioning Group, GP practice management, project management in the out-of-hours arena and in a previous life Michael served in the Royal Air Force within the medical branch.
Stu joined Nottinghamshire LMC in September 2019 after serving 22 years in the Royal Air Force, undertaking varying Practice Management roles in primary and Occupational Health, to co-ordination of strategic Aeromedical Evacuations. With a BSc (Hons) in Health & Social Care management, Stu hopes to bring his extensive healthcare knowledge and experience to his role.
