DR. AYMAN Z MATTA

With over 20 years of clinical experience, Dr. Ayman Z. Matta is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. In 1996, Dr. Matta completed medical school at the Ain Shams University School of Medicine, a top ranked medical school in Egypt. After finishing his first residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University in 1997, Dr. Matta went on to complete an additional residency at Stony Brook at the Nassau University Medical Center in 2000. One year later, Dr. Matta completed his fellowship at the Bucci Cataract & Laser Vision Institute, specializing in Anterior Segment and Cornea & Refraction. Dr. Matta currently serves as Director of the New York Eye Institute, specializing in Cataract Surgery, Refractive Surgery, Glaucoma, Corneal Transplants, Medical and Laser Retina Surgery, including LASIK, PRK, PTK, AK, and Lens Exchange Therapy. Dr. Matta is actively accepting patients and will be a part of the Surgeon's list.

DR. ILAN COHEN

Dr. Cohen, a board-certified ophthalmologist, performed the first implantable contact lens procedure (ICL), in the tri-state area. ICLs serve as a LASIK alternative for patients with high myopia (extreme nearsightedness). He was featured on both Fox and ABC news He also restored sight to a legally blind man who hadn't seen out of one eye for decades. And, he performed the first artificial cornea procedure for end stage corneal disease in the tri-state area, which got him featured on CBS news. Dr. Cohen also developed his own sutureless technique for pterygium excision with a limbal stem cell allograft using tissue glue, which has helped numerous patients get free from these troublesome growths. Because with more than twenty years of experience and dual-fellowship credentials, Dr. Cohen has performed thousands of successful procedures. He is one of the most experienced eye surgeons in the nation, and a recognized authority on laser eye surgery technology. Dr. Cohen has spent years researching and analyzing visual outcomes to determine which techniques are safest and provide the best results for patients. Dr. Jerome V. Giovinazzo

Dr. Jerome V. Giovinazzo is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and practices surgical and medical ophthalmology. He earned a bachelor's degree from Amherst College and received his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine. Additionally, he completed a residency in ophthalmology and a fellowship in vitreo-retinal surgery at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. Dr. Giovinazzo grew up on Staten Island and is dedicated to providing state of the art ophthalmic care to the community. He is well versed in the surgical treatment of vitreo-retinal diseases, dislocated intraocular lenses, complex cataracts, and the medical management of retinal disease. His interests include endophthalmitis treatment, retinal pathology, physician wellness, and ophthalmic workplace efficiency. He works in association with The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and Staten Island University Hospital at different locations. Dr. Giovinazzo's fluency in English and medical Spanish helps him attend to patients from various cultural backgrounds. He takes a genuine interest in researching and educating himself on various new advancements in ophthalmology so that his patients get the best and the most advanced treatment possible. He has won numerous research awards at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and published multiple peer reviewed academic papers. He is a member of the American Society of Retina Specialists and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Philip W. Kramer

Dr. Sara Hanna-Salem received her Bachelor's degree from Simmons University in Boston, MA, and her Doctor of Optometry degree from The New England College of Optometry with honors. She went on to complete a residency in ocular disease and low vision at the Veteran's Hospital in New York. Dr. Hanna provides comprehensive eye exams that detect and manage ocular diseases such as glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration. Dr. Hanna also provides pediatric exams starting at the age of 3.She has extensive knowledge and experience with fitting patients in the latest contact lens technology such as soft, astigmatic, and presbyopic lenses. She strives to provide patients with the highest level of eye care and treatment. Dr. Hanna is also an animal lover, spending her free time supporting and volunteering at various animal charities while also taking care of her two rescue dogs!
