Having worked in the Hospitality Industry in a management role, I qualified to teach Geography. My interest in assisting children with learning differences within my own teaching environment intensified and further training was undertaken. I am a qualified assessor and specialist teacher of both dyscalculia and dyslexia adopting a ‘whole' person approach, considering other dependent variables that affect learning and development of the individual inside and outside of the classroom environment. Whilst providing private tutoring for children aged between 7 and 16, I am currently working in the Learning Support Department of a school, providing one-to-one tuition for children between 8 and 13 who have learning differences. Emotional, personal and social skills can all contribute to barriers within the classroom yet, if addressed and given the correct ‘tools', an individual will be able to recognise and not be afraid of their strengths and challenges.
